Comments on my WD2005FBYZ and Ultrastar DC HC320

1. In terms of a generalized “WD Gold product line”, I have 2 products from this product line – a WD2005FBYZ (2TB) and an HUS728T8TALE6L4 (8TB)(Also known as Ultrastar DC HC320 or “0B36404”, it is more or less a “skin” of WD8004FRYZ, which has more or less the same properties.) – In the region that I previously lived, there exists retail channel Ultrastar DC HC320 which has 5-year limited warranty. I brought them with me when I moved to elsewhere.
2. The review section has deleted the option of chosing WD8004FRYZ because it is an old product, which is replaced by WD8005FRYZ; so I will submit the review nominally as “WD8005FRYZ”.
3. The purpose I buy them is to use them as “WD BLACK HDDs with higher performance” – high performance HDDs for my gaming desktop PC; for sure, I paid extra cost for my decision.
4. To use these products, you must prepare good power supply units (in terms of sufficiently small ripple) and cooling systems, to avoid potential damages to these products.
5. Fortunately, under my correct way of using and care, they survived for a long time. Now, the 5-year limited warranty of the WD2005FBYZ has already expired for about 2.5 years, and the 5-year limited warranty of the Ultrastar DC HC320 is going to expire after 195 days, but they still function well. I decide to continue using them with extra cold backups (copies of files), in case a failure occurs.
6. The performance of these 2 drives are quite good: the maximum transfer rate of sequential reading and writing can reach 200 MB/s (WD2005FBYZ) and 270 MB/s (this specific Ultrastar DC HC320, which is extraordinary), and they also have good random reading and writing in the context of 3.5-Inch SATA HDD.
7. Overall, if you want to buy WD BLACK HDDs, the WD Gold product line can be a superior substitute, although this decision can impose extra cost.
I would recommend this to a friend!

So far so good, but still to early to say

So far they are working well, but it is honestly too early to say for sure how well they will hold up. While it does have a 5 year warranty, the goal is not to have to use the warranty.
