M1000 Singer Mending Machine

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Oh I really enjoy using my M1000 Singer mending machine. The instructions on how to thread the machine were very thorough. The Singer sewing machine brand is very well known and reliable since it has been around for many, many years. The only thing I don't like about this machine is how to thread the needle which goes from back to front and not side to side like I've always been used to. Besides that one feature, I really enjoy using my new mending machine. It comes in handy for small jobs and it is so lightweight only 5 lbs.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Thank you for the 5-stars! We are so glad to hear we hit the mark for you. Just to clarify, the needle threads from front to back. However, you do "Insert the threader loop through the needle eye from behind." in order to pull the thread from front to back. I hope this information will assist you.

Perfect size for limited space

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Nice light weight, compact size. This machine does what it advertises, mending and small jobs.
It has safety features that are cumbersome. The finger guard is handy (I have punctured my finger before) however it makes threading the needle difficult. Unplugging the machine is not an option to thread machine due to need for the light to see eyelet. Using the included needle threader is very helpful.
The machine has the necessary options for mending, hemming, zigzagging. The reverse works well.
Overall it is a good machine for a beginner or for small projects. Not having an on/off switch takes some getting used to, but does not kill the deal.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Singer M1000 Mending Machine is a great beginner sewing machine. Its light weight and small so it's easy to move around. Making it great for children and the older persons to learn on. It has 32 stitch styles and it also has all the accessories to get started. You can even go online and take beginner classes to learn how to get started. My wife who never sewed before is learning to use it. I recommend to get if your a first time user of sewing machines.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have the perfect size sewing machine. It's completely the best one I have had. It's compact and portable. I take it with me everywhere. It's great! It does everything I need. It has several different stitch designs. It's great for beginners and mending everything you need. I'm so pleased with this one and will be doing lots of sewing with this.

Practical

Easy and simple to use. Great for everyday fixes. Compact and light. Even though it only has one speed, it isn't an issue. I watched the Singer and YouTube videos which were super practical. I was not able to get the free in-person sewing lesson as advertised. The designated sewing centers said that they don't, and if they did, it would be just to show you how to thread the machine. The videos showed how to use all the features perfectly, and I could review them several times.

The little machine that could

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is the machine that I did not know that I needed, but now I wish that I'd always had! This machine is NOT a toy, and not a beginner's machine, but rather another valuable tool that should be in any sewist's arsenal. I am not lucky enough to have a dedicated room for sewing where I can leave a sewing machine set up all the time (honestly, many of us don't right?) and there are so, so, so many little things that I put off because it means clearing space and carrying and setting up the big machine. I have small mending jobs; new fabric that needs to have the ends finished so that I can wash it before cutting; small jobs like hemming; little craft projects; and the "honey, can you do this for me?" type things. Last weekend I travelled to my elderly father's home and he really, really needed custom curtains for his odd, awkward windows. He doesn't have my mother's machine any more, and I dreaded lugging my big machine with me. He just needed sheers for those odd windows and this machine was PERFECT for that!
I'm sure that some people will see the price point on this and think that this is a good choice for someone learning to sew, or for someone who just wants a full sized machine on the cheap. This is a great little machine, but don't set yourself up for disappointment -- this is not a machine that can be forced or mistreated. But if you know how to use a sewing machine and respect its limitations, and use it for what it's intended, it really is great to have.
I can pick it up with one hand (!!!!) and leave it on a side table. I can carry it in a grocery bag or simple tote bag. I've already gotten through a pile of mending and hemming that's been waiting for so long.
And now, I've gotten a ton of fabric that's been sitting around -- end stitched (to prevent ravelling) and washed (and preshrunk) -- and NOW I can get down to real sewing.
And now ..... I'm eyeing that drawer of fabric that I've collected thinking it would be perfect for quilts (okay -- I admit, there's two drawers and a tub) and FINALLY going to get back into cutting and piecing, because I know I can set this up on my little portable desk and work on piecing quilts while I'm watching TV in the evening.

Just perfect for mending

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got this the other day and I thought how perfect! Just the right size for fixing small things like a hem or a tear. Now I don't have to get my big machine out, set it up and then fix what I got to fix. I can leave it set up in my sewing room. Perfect. I would recommend this Singer mending machine to anyone even beginning sewing people. Awesome!
