GREAT MACHINE FOR SMALLER SEWING PROJECTS

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have not owned a sewing machine in quite a few years, so when offered the opportunity to try this Singer M1000 Mending Machine in exchange for my opinion, I gladly accepted.
Once it arrived, I removed it from the styrofoam casing it had shipped in and opened up the detailed user guide.
The instructions for threading the machine were fairly easy to follow. It came with a pre-threaded bobbin, which I really appreciated, even though it's pretty simple to add thread to an empty bobbin.The top of this sewing machine has diagrams that step through the process.
Things got a little frustrating where actually threading the needle was concerned.
Although I am a senior citizen in my late 60's, my brain still functions fairly well.
I had not taken into consideration that my eyes do not, even with my glasses on.
I got out my trusty magnifying glass, which allowed me to see the hole in the needle well enough that I could use the included threader accessory to accomplish the task.
Because the threader has to be inserted from the back side of the needle, this task was a bit frustrating. Using one hand to position the threader in the eye of the needle, while holding my magnifying glass with the other, made this step more difficult.
Had I removed the pressure foot, it might have been easier to thread the needle from behind, but early on in the setup process I accidently moved the wrong lever which, to my surprise, promptly released the plate portion of the foot, making me think I had broken it. Gladly this was not the case. With the help of the instruction guide, I was able to reattach it.
Once I accomplished the task of threading the needle, I grabbed a piece of fabric to test out the stitching. I have included a photo of a few of the available stitches. There are several more that I have yet to try. Please keep in mind that I had not taken the time to adjust the tension before using the machine, so the stitching is more uneven than it would have been had I not skipped that step.
Overall I really like this Singer M1000 Mending Machine. It's fairly quiet when in use.
The size of this machine is convenient, as I don't have much storage space in my apartment. The table it is sitting on in the photos is "ice cream parlor" size.
The LED light is pretty bright! I have included an image using only the built in light on the machine as a light source. There is no on and off switch for the light, When the machine is plugged in, the light stays on until it's unplugged.
The foot control works wonderfully. It's easy to adjust the speed using only the foot control.
I appreciate that the lever to switch to backstitching is positioned in a manner that adds to the ease of sewing with this machine. There are a few accessories included that will come in handy. Extra needles and bobbins as well as a threader, a flat metal "screwdriver" & a cap which fits on top of the spool to secure it in place.
I still need to review how to set the tension so that the stitching is even, but other than that I am confident that I will be sewing some DIY projects which are too complicated for hand stitching. While this machine might not be the best choice for someone who needs the ability to sew thicker fabrics or larger sewing projects, I would definitely recommend this Singer M1000 Mending Machine for simple sewing projects and mending.

Good basic machine.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The SINGER - M1000 Mending Machine, is the perfect little starter machine for those that have never used a machine previously, or for those that want a small compact machine that can be brought out for simple quick fixes.
The mending machine comes with all the needed items to use out of the box and as a guy who has literally no experience with this type of product, I was able to use it easily after watching a few online videos and a little bit of practice. My wife, who has more experience with sewing machines, found it easy to use and intuitive.
The product is made from good quality materials and does not seem cheap, just don't expect it to be in the same league as it's bigger brothers. This is a simple starter machine that just does the basics, if you are making clothing for a living, purchase a bigger product.
This is an awesome little starter product that is easy to use, even for beginners and I thoroughly recommend it to others looking for a small simple mending machine.

Giving this a Good instead of Average...

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The biggest problem I've found with this machine is the needle stops randomly and you can't change the sewing speed-it is one speed only. I do have to admit I am impressed with the weight and size. This makes it very easy to move from room to room or even travel with. I recently loaded it up (without any problem whatsoever) and took it to my daughter's new home and sewed her curtains she made from dropcloth material and a table skirt and it did the job! It was very convenient to be able to take it along! I do recommend this M1000 machine if you do not have a lot of sewing and just need something quick and easy to do the job. If you are an experienced sewer and do big jobs than this one is not the one for you and I recommend going with a bigger machine.

Out of the box it is made with quality materials and with a little direction easy to use. I think this product would be perfect for any beginner or seasoned sewer as it is not an intimidating machine.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Iv never owned a sewing machine prior to this one. It's very first timer friendly, very easy to use and follow instructions easily. It's not very big and bulky, good size. Great for patchups and tears in clothes nothing extremely major though.

Easy to use

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got this to help me learn how to use a sewing machine again, since it has been so long since I have used one. This machine is so easy to use. It is great for a beginner to start with. You can do so many easy sewing projects with this machine as long as the fabric is not thick. I love all the different sewing stitches it has. I love how easy it is to thread. I also love that it came with bobbins, extra sewing needles, and a few more essential things for sewing. I love how easy it is to see with this. I also love the light on it. It is also cool that it is smaller than a bigger sewing machine, and that makes it easier to store when not is use. I love that you can hem clothes or sew holes on clothes. I love how easy this machine is to set up and use. I love the durability of the machine. It is made so well and is very sturdy. This machine has n wonderful for beginners or someone who has to learn to use a sewing machine again. I recommend this machine to everyone. It is a awesome machine.
