Nice Serger

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a very nice serger. The first thing I noticed right out of the box is it has a handle on top. Previous sergers I have owned did not have this. It may not sound like a big deal, but for someone like me who works in a small space a carrying handle makes a huge difference when moving things around. The bottom of the machine has feet that form suction cups and hold the machine in place against a table. When I pulled my machine out of the box, it had some oil or grease on the bottom. Not a big deal and easy to clean off. I’m assuming it was probably oiled not long before shipping. My serger came already threaded, so I was able to tie my new thread on easily. The front opening is lighted which is very helpful when threading. I like that you have the option to use 2, 3, or 4 threads and there are various stitch styles and widths depending on your project. Another nice feature is this serger has an extension that comes off, so you have a free arm to sew smaller items and difficult areas like armholes. The accessories (extra needles and screwdriver) were inside the extension when I pulled it off. There are also tweezers located inside the front cover. I started by sewing on some scrap fabric. I did have to adjust the tension a little but once I got the right setting I got a very nice clean edge. My first project was making my own ribbon to put on a birthday present, and it came out very nice! The one issue I do have is the manual doesn’t quite match up with my machine. According to the manual, both the stitch length dial and the differential feed should both be set to “N” for most sewing. “N” is not an option on either of those dials. I’m making note of what the dials were set to out of the box and I’ll probably just experiment on scrap fabric to determine the correct settings for certain stitches/fabrics. Overall, this a great serger and I think I’ll be using it for a long time.

SO100 Great serger for the price!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This machine is well built and feels solid. I like the suction cups on the bottom which keeps it secure and steady. It comes partially threaded so all you have to do is tie your spool thread to the existing thread and pull it through. If you have trouble doing that and have to rethread, don't worry, follow the thread map. A quick guide is actually on the inside of the machine front cover and the illustrations are very clear. Just be sure you do it in the order the illustration and manual suggests! One feature I love is it has an interior light so visibility is great for threading. The handwheel is a little tight to manually turn. I tried all the stiches with 4, 3, & 2 threads and left, right needle and both needles. The overlock stitches were all beautiful and perfect and the rolled hem will be especially useful for my hobby. You can also slide off the flat bed extension for free arm stitching. The machine runs a little loud but not overbearing. In my experience, they all run loud. Overall, I think this is a great little machine. A good deal!

Best Machine Ever

I got the machine about two years ago. It was the best thing that I did. I love my machine, and would totally get another one if this one does not work. I use it all the time. The only thing that I don't have on my machine is a thread cutter which would be handy. I got my machine from a different store, but it is exactly the same.

Great machine. I wish that it had a manual. That’s definitely a downside. When it said that the machine came threaded, I thought it would include 4 spools of thread, but I was wrong. It just threaded a piece of thread for each spool. Kind of silly, don’t you think? I just pulled them all out and threaded it again. You should include spools so that a person can use it straightaway. Also the color of the dots, particularly the red, needs to be more vibrant. In certain light they are difficult to distinguish. My mother had an earlier model with just 3 spools snd the indicator dot colors were very bright. It was much easier to see them when threading. And I am wondering why the tweezers are plastic instead of metal. You should upgrade that item. Metal will last longer.

Outstanding Serger!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Excellent serger for both the beginner and expert sewer. You can use 2, 3, or 4 threads to make those perfect seams that you see in store bought clothes. This machine sews the seam, finishes the seam, and cuts off the excess fabric at one time, MAGIC! It takes a bit of practice for threading the machine but there are color coding to help you with this. I use the tweezers, which makes it easier, cause I find my fingers just get in the way and block my view. I am thankful that the machine will not run with the door open as the blades ate very sharp. This is a great safety feature cause I tend to use my fingers to pull out a "tangle". The only downside is that you have to download the manual, but this seems to be the way it is with everything you buy now. I personally need a manual to refer to and I like a copy in my hand, but I guess I could print a copy and not including a manual does save trees.

Unsatified purchase

I recently purchased a Singer S0100 sewing machine from a store in the RL area, and it does not work at all, has missing pieces as well. Went back to return it at the store and the lady was rude and said they don't take returns and told us that it's not there problem and to call Singer. I called Singer hoping that since it is there brand that they will help me out, but unfortunately I was told that they basically can't do nothing about it so to take it somewhere to just get fixed and hung up on me. So basically I have to keep wasting more money because they don't want to take there machine back and send me a new one. I have other sewing machines from Singer and have NEVER EVER had a problem before but now i am super disappointed that I will never buy from them ever again, if there not willing to correctly help people out.
