An amazing opening experience, an heirloom piece

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The moment I opened the box I knew I had made the right decision in purchasing my Kramer by Zwilling 8" stainless Damascus chef's knife. I have been using my father's Zwilling Henckels 31071 almost exclusively in my kitchen for years, and I see the brand as a staple in the kitchen. Recently I have been looking into more purpose built, harder steels in my kitchen knives; I've purchased an inexpensive Japanese knife and found that for slicing I do prefer the retension in VG-10 to the German steel, which is my chopper, Carver, spatula, everything honestly; a true workhorse. I fell in love with the Kramer back in 2018 at the start of this journey through steels, and later fell in love with SG2 blades through a Benchmade I bought. Now that I have the SG2 Kramer I don't know why I waited so long: as soon as I held it I saw the knife that my child will, hopefully, steal from my kitchen when they go off to college. I see in this an heirloom AND a tool, something masterfully assembled, delicate yet practical, and an excellent addition to my Zwilling products, my knife collection, and my family's kitchens for generations to come. The blade is so light, handle so sturdy, finish so precise and stunning, I can't say enough how happy I was to hold this blade.

Good balanced knife but not perfect

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The left and right sides of the handle has a millimeter offset and didn't line up perfectly. At this price you would assume there's great QA involved in the manufacturing process.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The knife is fabulous. My only concern is how easily the knife scratches. I hand washed the knife upon receiving, due to the fact that the knife was covered in protective grease like substance. Afterwards, the knife had several scratches all throughout the Damascus pattern. I didn’t wash this knife any differently than any of my other knives, so it’s a bit disheartening that it’s already scratched. I realize cosmetic changes are inevitable with use, however I would have rather not experienced them on day 1.

This is a very impressive knife. Scalpel sharp and very well finished. The chevron Damascus is really beautiful. I believe it's fairly well balanced and is very comfortable in the hand. I can't speak to the durability yet, but I'm fairly confident it will be in my kitchen for the rest of my life.

Amazing knife with some visual imperfections

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Sharpest thing I’ve ever purchased for my wife. She loves it. The balance and weight is perfect (medium sized woman’s hand, 6.5 glove size). My wife is a surgeon and finally found a knife she loves more than the scalpels she uses at work. The only downside is superficial, it came with a scuffed spot on the Damascus pattern. I was a little surprised about the blemish given the price tag. The surface color texture is matte/graphite feel.
Given that it shows such wear right out of the box, I worry how long it will retain its beauty.

Comfortable and sharp

This knife and my Kramer pairing knife fit my hand perfectly. The amazingly sharp edge reduces fatigue.

I have followed Bob Kramer for quite some time. So excited to finally own my own. IT is unique. Wider blade and substantial handle in my hand. The damascus detail is amazing. The sharpness doesn't compare to any knife I've ever owned. Certainly an investment, but worth it.
