Too expensive ! Rather than making their product price competitive, they send a download to deactivate your printer when it senses a generic toner.

I relate to your sentiments about being required to buy a new product. I think there has been a misunderstanding here, as you don't need a new cartridge. I will provide a solution.
Periodically, the firmware software automatically updates. Occasionally, these updates cause error messages. To counter this, revert to the previous software version. The cartridge should continue to work.
