I resent being hostage to HP's business model and as soon as I find a more cost-effective approach to printing, I will finally abandon HP -- having been loyal to this American brand for my entire career. I teach and have a small business and simply resent the cost of constantly having to replace cartridges at costs that exceed the original printers.

this is a great product but when you spend more on replacement cartridges than on the printer itself there is something wrong with that. It's the same old bait and switch method, cheap printer and refills that cost 10 times more than they should.

HP makes their equipment to be quality-compatible only with their ink/toner supply; then they charge outrageous prices for the ink/toner. If you purchase other then HP ink/toner, the quality isn't as good, but the price sure beats HP.

Good quality, but WAY more expensive than refills

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I went with genuine HP instead of a refill because I wanted to ensure it would be of good quality, and "just work". It does work well, but for so much more than the refills. HP needs to lower the price on these if it wants to retain customers like me. Otherwise, I'll go with a different printer brand altogether.
