A Beautiful Workhorse

We bought this and installed it 2 years ago. We LOVE this hood. Beside being aesthetically pleasing, it's a workhorse! We have a Viking gas range and this exhaust hood tales care of the steam amd smoke easily. It is stronger and quieter than the other hood we have had. Good also is easy cleaning- wipe it down and removable parts go in the dish washer.
I bought this over a month and so far experiencing the difference it makes in my kitchen . the 860hp dual motor is pulling the oil and smoke , which earlier was my biggest concern. Cooking under such a well lit up area is so inspiring as well !!!
Since my family prefers a certain style of cooking, we have to use high-BTU cooktop to sautee and deep fry, which produce a lot of smoke and odor. Therefore, a high-CFM range hood is a necessity in our kitchen. Popular Asian range hoods tend to focus on function but often lack aesthetics. I was happy to find the Hauslane PS18, which has a slim, modern look and practical features. It motivated us to replace our still-functioning range hood.
Before installing, we tested the range hood, and everything worked well and looked solid. To install the 37-pound unit, we used a cooler and a car jack, which made the process much easier. Our main challenge was the ducting: our old range hood used a 7-inch duct, but the Hauslane requires a 6-inch duct, and its opening was 1-2 inches off from the old one. We had to buy a 6" to 7" duct increaser and heavy-duty metal cutter shears. It took several trial-and-error attempts to connect the ducting to the Hauslane damper, and the entire process took us 2-3 hours and two trips to the hardware store.
Attaching the range hood itself was easier. There are six screws to attach it to the cabinet; we used only four, which were secure enough. For the back two screws, we needed a mini cordless screwdriver to predrill the holes (starting with a smaller drill bit and then a larger one, since the screwdriver is only 4V).
The final result was rewarding. One minor issue was that the original 3W GU-10 LED light had a buzzing sound and was too dim for our needs. We replaced them with 4W, 120-degree beam angle GU-10 bulbs, which were perfect. The 6-speed fan operates at 60-69dB (measured by my Apple Watch), which is not too loud. I appreciate the dishwasher-safe baffle filter, they are much better than the old mesh filter. Overall, I am happy with the Hauslane PS18 for its aesthetic look, practical function, and low maintenance.
Definitely can't DIY install this rangehood myself

Just finished having it installed by licensed installer/electrician. Old rangehood is builder-hardwired, need an outlet to plug this. Although many recommended to DIY, I've seen how the installer struggled, no way I can do it myself, and besides he has all the tools for his trade. I still think this rangehood is going to work great, I have not started cooking yet. I'll see when I get my frying pan smoking from overly hot oil, and should not trigger my smoke alarm. Or even when I open my oven to see my broiling meat.
I love my new hood. It’s not as quiet as I thought it would be. It does the job however. It looks beautiful in our kitchen. I would recommend this hood to anyone needing a new hood. It is awesome if you love to cook, because then you need a great hood. My alarm hasn’t gone off since we installed it.
Purchased and installed hood about 2 months ago. Cooked bacon and fish on the stove and our neighbors knew what we were eating. No smells inside the house. Beautiful hood with easy cleanable controls. Nice that we can replace the hood lights with off the shelf lightbulbs found at our local hardware store. Would recommend this product.
