I consider myself to be pretty handy when it comes to installing minor appliances. However, I found this next to impossible to install and finally gave up. The rear holes are nearly impossible to reach to secure the unit to the cabinets. Perhaps it would be easier if this was a new kitchen installation or if you could move the range out of the way but this was being installed over an existing cooktop. I am remodeling the kitchen in another home that I own and will have a professional install this unit. I did plug the unit in and check the lights and fan settings and it does seem to a nice exhaust hood. It is however, a little louder than I anticipated except for the lowest speed setting.
Fan is installed and working great after a rough start. Received unit with Right LED light not working. Sent email to the team but got no response. Waited a few days decided to search for problem myself. Found a loose connector wire on the right LED harness. Seated the wire and put unit back together and worked fine. The unit works as expected now and matches my stove perfectly.
Beautiful appearance, quality components, and powerful fans are all evident.
After taking out the old, cheaply made competitors unit and laying both side by side on the floor, you can easily see the quality of the Hauslane hood.
It’s been operating for a few days now, with cooking, and it does a much better job of capturing the heat and odors from both the oven and stove top.
Our home has an apartment on the ground floor under part of the structure. Before installing this hood, we would suffer with the smells of whatever the tenant was cooking. The old hood was not powerful enough to keep us odor free. Now we don't even know she's cooking. THANK YOU!@
The UC-PS18 is a very nice looking kitchen appliance. It removes cooking odors much better than the GE Profile unit, which came with my new home construction. My biggest issue with this product is that it's TOO NOISY. Don't plan to have a conversation if you're working near the UC-PS18. You will not hear a thing. The sound specifications included with the product description need to reflect actual dBA (Decibel) AND Sone levels. I based my purchase decision on the Sone level. Hauslane offered to accept a return; however, I decided to live with it because of the disruption a return will cause. I'm considering changing the exhaust method to inline and will make that decision after I've spoken to a professional.
