It's a beast!

I installed it 3 wks. ago and it's the best hood I ever had! I'll be short and sweet on the pro's and con's. I've read a lot of reviews on it and like other reviews there is good and bad.
Some info on my install, 6" round ductwork to outside. Damper on outside vent also. Duct work is a short run and everything is secured real good. Some say the outside vent doesn't
open that much. Then something is wrong with your ductwork or your ductwork run is too long? My outside vent is wide open on any speed.

Pro's: 6 speeds, I use #4 the most and I it is a beast! #5 & 6 is a jet engine going off!
Speeds 1 through 4 are quite and you still can talk to people.
Some said clock loses time, so far it's keeping correct time.
This works great keeping smells from going into other rooms and again I only use #4
speed. I do a lot of cooking using oil with SS pans. This pulls all fumes from oil if I get pan
too hot. No rattles or anything when on the higher speeds. Built solid!
Con's: 2 people needed for install, it's heavy for one person
Back of unit says no closer than 31" above cooking surface, but description says
different?

You won't regret buying this, study the install before you actually do it. I used a cabinet jack along with an other person to install

Great suction performance

Great suction, quiet operation, and included light bulbs are very bright. I have been using this hood for 3 years and am very satisfied with the performance. One wish I have is I wish the duct size is larger than 6 inch as it seems the flow gets choked at the highest fan setting.

my review is focussed on the product and the installation of it. the product looks great with touch sensor controls. user friendly too. exhausts like a restaurant grade range exhaust. well-aimed light toward the middle of the cooktop. purchased to replace a disfunctional microwave recirculating fan. i downgraded this product for the challenging installation. for the price of the unit and excellent packaging one would think a mounting template would cut installation to half the time. many reviews, even old ones, mention this deficiency. for this reason and this reason alone i can't give it a five.
I would recommend this to a friend!

The UC-PS18 hood is a well-designed, solid product that looks great in our kitchen. My installer was impressed by the the venting options and ease of installation, and we're impressed by the venting that it provides over a much-used stove.

I needed a white matte vent hood to match my white matte Cafe stove. I wouldn't call this vent hood "matte" (seems more like a gloss to me) but the color works with my stove and the style of the hood looks great. The hood itself works amazing, I love it. I've only had to run it on level 3 or lower - it's very powerful. I think it's quiet for a hood vent, much quieter than others I've had in the past. I'm very happy with this vent! Definitely recommend!!!
Regarding the installation, my brother (a contractor) was able to install by himself - but it did take him all day. Actually he installed it twice because the first time it was making a high pitched squeal. He was able to fix the sound by adding a foam gasket to the back of the vent and resealing the cover. We used the vent on the top of the unit, but air was somehow passing through the back of the unit. The foam gasket fixed the squeal.
