Poor Quality

I recently purchased the Snap Grip Luxe in Obsidian Black as the product seemed perfect for my needs. Unfortunately, I was highly disappointed as it appears to be poor quality. The magnet works well but my device has major difficulties when I attempt to rotate it. It also fails to support the phone when attempting to prop it up to stand. I really like the low profile of the device but the functionality or at least quality was lacking in my experience.

Pretty great but could be better

When I received my Oh Snap I was excited and skeptical. So many pros! The magnet is great. The feel is great. My biggest concern was the durability of the pop out part itself. Low and behold after only 10 days (since being shipped) part of the plastic has broken off. I don’t do anything crazy. I didn’t drop my phone. It’s super sad because I was thrilled for this. Hopefully as they grow other versions will work out better. As for now, for me it wasn’t worth it. I’ll try again in the future if upgrades are made.

Could Slow Cook A Casserole

Even if the device was perfect as far as ease-of-use, I’d still give it one start simply because of how it affects charging. It not only charges VERY slowly, but my charger and phone start getting VERY hot; I have to remove the phone from the case to effectively (and safely) use mag charging.

It's good, but adhesive doesn't last

I really like this product. It does everything they said it would, but the problem is, the adhesive isn't very strong. It started to loosen after only about a month. If I'm doing something like using my phone while lying down, the weight of the phone pulls it off the grip. You can stick it back on, and it will continue to work, but your hand always has to be underneath the phone. And then once when the grip came off, it fell on the floor sticky side down. I'm sure all the dust or dirt that stuck to it didn't help to keep it sticky. I don't really need to be able to take the grip on and off. I'd rather the adhesive be stronger and permanent. I expected it to last a lot longer for the price. I really wanted to give this product five stars, but I can only give it three because of that.

I LOVED this grip... Until

MagSafe chargers did not charge while the grip was attached. Then the MagSafe stand literally pried the grip from the back of my phone. Until then, I had no issues with the adhesive, and I loved the magnetic grip's ability to mount to metal surfaces (like my filing cabinet). I removed the adhesive from the ring, switched to a magnetic case, and even used it for a while (removed it during charging), but finally gave up. The grip had come apart while trying to remove it from the MagSafe mount (photo in profile). I managed to get it back together, but the track was damaged from the disassembly and never spun again. HUGE waste of money. The thing should come with a guarantee.

Very difficult to close

I guess it’s more ergonomic than holding the phone without a grip but it’s fairly difficult to open one-handed and impossible to close. Even with two hands it takes probably a full minute to get it oriented properly to close.

I want to love this, but I don't

First, my Qi charger didn't work with the Snap Grip on, so I bought a new mag safe charger. My phone charged, but the mag safe charger held on to the Snap Grip better than the snap grip held on to my case, so every time I used them together, I had to pry the grip off the charger, nearly breaking my nails (a capital offense!) My Snap Grip now sits on the night stand, to be used (when I remember) only when I'm traveling and use a plug into my phone charger. In addition, the grip just isn't as comfortable as I thought it would be.

A step in the wrong direction
on November 22, 2024

I have owned every version of the OhSnap grip. I wasn't a part of the original Kickstarter, but I joined the community soon thereafter. Each iteration has felt like a step forward up until the Snap Grip Luxe. The absolute biggest issue that plagues it, from my perspective as someone who uses the full suite of products, is overheating. The aluminum, when paired with the SnapCharge, is VOLCANIC. This makes using the OhSnap that much worse because pulling it off the charger nearly singes my hand. I wish I were exaggerating, but it is uncomfortably hot every time. I use my SnapCharge in the car and at my desk for work, so I'm constantly facing this issue. Additionally, as a result of the constantly high temperature, the adhesive underneath the grip basically dissolves, so the grip falls off. I have replaced the adhesive on my Luxe 3 times now, and I finally decided today to go back to my OhSnap 3 because the Luxe just isn't enjoyable to use. How no one identified this heat problem during development is beyond me.
