Garbage - doesn't work

I returned the first one of these and got a second. Both don't work. It can't both power and a monitor at the same time. I also connected my USB-C wireless keyboard dongle in, and it glitches and lags. Don't buy this.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great hub!

Device works exactly as advertised and I'm quite thrilled with it! Don't over-pay for a USB hub, this works great!
My laptop at work is one of those ultra-thin modern laptops with minimal ports and attachments. I work in automation and often need a dual-monitor setup to work efficiently; however, the laptop only has 1 dedicated monitor port and one USB-C "mini" port which is used for power. Using this hub I can keep getting power over the USB-C "mini" port, get my second monitor off the HDMI port, and even add a USB-C "Maxi" port (need an ethernet adapter, just slap in a usb-ethernet adapter and this becomes a pretty complete hub). I'm just amazed that one port can handle all of that data!
On top of that, I have a Windows-Surface tablet that can do a dual-monitor setup with this (and get an Ethernet connection with an the USB port and an adapter). These little units will even work with a Nintendo Switch; making it easy to take it on vacation and hook it up to any modern television.
Great little device!!

Very Handy Device !

I bought this to connect my Samsung S9 to the TV in our RV via HDMI. Works very well ! My S9 automatically detected the connection, and ran the DeX software which gave me a desktop computer like interface. After making a couple tweaks to the settings on our TV, it was working perfectly . I have a few more tests to make to check out its versatility for charging while viewing, and see if it will support a USB stick with music and movies on it. I expect it will work just fine !

Suits my Specific Needs

This product finally allowed me to connect to my MacBook Air the AC power, my Apple Cinema Display (in full resolution), and another USB-A device (expensive mechanical keyboard). Nothing else would work, and in fact, I could not connect my Apple Cinema Display to this adapter -- it had to connect direct to the laptop. The AC power is connected to the adapter, and still providing enough power.
The unit itself is a nice faux-metal plastic design; not cheap feeling, but not actually aluminum. The ports are nice and snug, and enough room between them to connect everything, including FAT usb sticks.
If you're frustrated with some USB-C hubs designed for the new MacBooks that have less ports than previous revisions, you will likely be happy with this product.

Good for a year and glitches after

It was useful for a year and now it's hard to connect to my MacBook. It comes and goes and I have to play around with it to make it connect, which is annoying. Don't recommend.
