I bought a new cartridge for my HP laserMFP281fw printer. When I installed the cartridge it did not work. There was no ink being discharged. I was printing reports for my school and there was no black ink. I put back the old cartridge that still had a small amount of ink and printed a test page. It worked. I have to print reports for my school and the defective cartridge was a disappointment.

I only bought the HP cartiridges because HP will not allow most of their printers to works with non-HP cartiridges. So I paid $404 for a cartridge set when the $136 set I bought wouldn't run. No warnings in the HP marketing materials for my printer, or in the instructions included with it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We bought our HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M281fdw a few years ago and it’s been running on the original toner cartridges until a few weeks ago. When we got the alarm for low toner in the print driver, I was dreading finding the right cartridges, installing them correctly without a big mess...turned out to be a piece of cake...good directions and product. Also directions to leave empty cartridges off at a variety of retail stores for recycling or labels to mail them off to HP was a plus. We had used inkjet printers in the past and got tired of ink clogging up and having to replace cartridges often. This printer prints great every.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Recently I bought another brand of ink cartridges. I had problems with those off brand ink cartridges and regretted buying them. Now I only buy HP ink cartridges and am always satisfied. My advice is, don't waste your time with another brand. HP ink cartridges are the best by far!
