I had a G20 sometime back and gave it away. I seen I could buy the rechargeable battery for it so decided to get a couple more of them. Now I have a light for in the house when needed. I can say the G20 is a great little pen light, dependable gives off very good light. My wife decided she was taking one of them to have in her purse. Coast lights have always been a trusted product in our house, at work and outdoors. My wife says I have a Coast fetish because of all the different Coast products we have! I have only needed to use the Coast warranty twice in all the years of owning them and I can say that they stand behind it. Very good service and totally professional. I’m happy to say I will be a Coast customer for a long time to come. Thank You Coast!
I've now owned 2 of these and both of the worked well for around a month. After that they developed a flicker and a month after that you have to tap it to keep it lit for a second at a time. The light produced is consistent and bright and is the only reason this hasn't gotten a lower score.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The behavior you are describing with needing to tap the flashlight to get it to work is not how the flashlight should be behaving. Please contact us at 1-800-426-5858 or via email at support@coastportland.com to look into warranty options.
I use the Coast G20. A lot of times I am in a dark, tight spot. I need the information such as serial number, some type of identification. This light is just spot on. The beam is narrow and powerful just what I need in tight spots. I highly recommend this product.
The G20 is an excellent, very bright inspection light. While this is not the light you need for distances, it works extremely well for close up work (>8-10'). When I first bought it, I wasn't sure how much I'd actually use it, but now use it several times a day. This review is actually on a replacement. The switch on my first G20 sometimes needed a tap to get it to turn on. I contacted COAST and was immediately shipped a replacement, no questions asked. This type of customer service is rare these days and they've earned a customer for life.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Thank you for the very kind words! Our Customer Success team strives to provide the best experience possible for our users and I am glad they were able to provide you a great experience under not so great circumstances.
I work in an automotive assembly plant and do occasional repairs and needed a small solid light to see in dark/tight places in vehicles and this light is perfect. I use it way more than I ever thought I would and its always right in my shirt pocket and does not weigh me down. My co-worker saw me use it and showed up to work with the same one two days later!
Its lightweight, durable, and have used it for about two months and havent had to swap the batteries. The solid edge inspection light keeps you focused on what you need to see.
Full Disclosure: Coast provided me this G20 in order for me to test out. But, everything I will talk about here is my own opinion.

6) Performance On Lithium-ion Battery
7) Charge Time/Battery Satistics
8) Final Thoughts
The Individual Topics Begin Here:
1) Build Quality/Overview:
• The light feels premium in the hand with smoothish knurling
• It is entirely made of anodized aluminum
• The tail cap unscrews in order to remove the battery
• The button is a high travel, stiff, mushy, high positive tactile button with a rubber cap over it
2) Weight:
• 2.19 oz (62 grams). That's about the weight of 11 United States Quarters
3) Opperation and Modes:
• The operation of the light is controlled by one button on the back of the light
• There is only one mode
• There is no momentary on mode
4) Charging Port:
• No charging port built into the light itself. Instead, there is a Micro-USB charging port built into the optional ZX110 battery
5) Charging and Battery:
• The light is powered by 2 alkiline AAA batteries. It can also run on the Coast ZX110 lithium-ion rechargeable battery
• The ZX110 battery is a 10900 cell
• The ZX110 battery has a built-in Micro- USB charging port and a charging indicator on the top of the battery
• A solid red light indicates charging and a solid green light indicates the battery is fully charged
6) Performance On Lithium-ion Battery:
• I didn't notice any performance/brightness increase when running it on the optional ZX110 battery
7) Charge Time/Battery Satistics:
ZX110:
Rated Capacity: 600 mah
Tested Capacity: 653 mah
Built-In USB On Battery:
Charge Speed: 302 mah
Time: 2 hours 24 minutes
8) Final Thoughts:
Put simply, this is a simple generic pen light. Nothing too special here to note. The G20 has a unique inspection beam which is basically just a narrow perfectly circular even beam of light. It has no hot spot in the center. Although, for me, it is a bit too dim for my applications. For me, the HP3r is a much better fit.
The G20 is nearly identical to the HP4 interms of build, size, and operation. The only differences being the HP4 being much brighter and having a Bulls-Eye beam pattern with a hot spot instead of the inspection beam pattern on the G20. Overall, it is a well built pen light that is rather affordable.
