I bought this after I moved in March and loved it. It's perfect for a 63 year old woman even if I have to use both hands to turn it on some days. However recently I have to replace the batteries sooner than I did when I got it. Ill be lucky to get 24 hours out of it before I have to change batteries. No I'm not using cheap brands or mixing them. Just wishing knew how to make it keep a charge longer. Thanks

COAST lights never fail, but I do lose em'.

I'm a huge fan of these 1xAAA lights. Just one simple, small, and super common battery required. My only problem is I keep losing these due to their size, but, for the same reason, I'm guaranteed to have one on me all the time... until I lose that one. I was about to replace my G10/15/19, but this G22 popped up while shopping. I was interested in the stronger output and dual brightness settings (longer battery).
I've had the G10,15,19, and 20. They all share the same beam and brightness. I do like the coolness of the inspection beam, it lacks the throw this light has. I wouldn't feel confident giving that type of beam as a gift, but I like having it personally.
Definitely a performance upgrade on this G22 compared to my previous G's and I was looking forward to the dual brightness feature, BUT the difference in output between the two settings can go unnoticed as I cycle them back and forth. I still give 5 stars, because it seems COAST chose this brightness level based on doubling the battery life; it's hard to argue with that.

I am cautious to fall in love. I know "dual-brightness" settings from a single button mean there's a chip inside this thing that can fail. Hopefully COAST did it with some cunning "analog" electronic engineering instead of relying on a microprocessor. It's too new for me to take it apart to find out, but I'm hoping it's reliable... until I lose this one.
I think the simplicity may be lost if a third brightness setting were added, but, personally, I'd prefer LOW to be lower; with the HIGH right where it's at. Perhaps 1/3 output in LOW, because anything less (like "firefly") would require a third mode; since you'll probably end up switching to HIGH for everything.
Not sure if I'll look for a 1xAA ever. The thickness of a 1xAAA in a front pocket is acceptable as is, and the battery life is plenty sufficient. Plus, if you're into flashlights, then you usually have something else nearby to better suite the task. This one is with you to get you to that one, and its ready as a backup if the other runs out, fails, drops, or handed to someone on your team.
