Great little light- throws a lot of light

For a small light is throws a lot of light. Magnetic bottom and hook on top helps when situating it just about anywhere. I use the rechargeable battery and it works well. Good to have around just about anywhere in the house, the garage, or in the car.

I had already bought everyone a flashlight from Coast that has multiple functions and I added the little lantern to it. This is primarily for prepping as one does not know what is headed our way. I like the fact that it is so durable and has various degrees of brightness and the red light, too.

Terrific Little Lantern

For disclosure: Even though I own this, the EAL18 is my main power-out light in the house. I also just bought an EAL22, but since it arrived today, I haven't had time yet to play with it.
This thing (EAL13) is a real favorite. I use it daily when I take my dog out in the back yard at night. It's plenty bright. I leave the diffuser on and raise it up. It's perfectly sized-- a little taller (maybe an inch or so) and just slightly more narrow at the biggest part (base) than a 12 oz soda can. So, it fits perfectly in a backpack water bottle/soda pocket on a backpack. I LOVE the green battery level indicator. Also, I'm not big into rechargeable anything. I get busy and forget to keep something charged and never have it when I need it-- or worse yet, have to deal with failing battery packs in an emergency. I much prefer just using alkalines. We survived a direct hit from an EF-5, so things like that go through your mind later. A lot. Therefore, this meets my needs for a small, unobtrusive area light that I can also keep with my backpack/car/emergency gear. I want to give a few of these as gifts and to will buy a couple more for around the house/office/car/lab/workshop. BUY THIS IF YOU HAVE SIMILAR NEEDS/SITUATION. Seriously. It's a great little light for its size.
I have two very minor criticisms. #2 is an understandable design compromise that we engineers have to make, so, it's by no means a dealbreaker. It's just something to be aware of because it gets bright.
1.) The magnets, on mine, at least, could be a bit stronger as the don't hold onto a metal surface as well as I would like.
2.) You have to cycle through all modes to turn it off.
2.) You have to ratchet through the various modes to turn it off.
