The hardware is fine and has decent performance running Solidworks. However, sleep mode or "Modern Standby" is outright defective, and the option to enable the older S3 standby has been removed from the BIOS in these models. Sleep mode is so astonishingly bad that it consumes the battery twice as fast as merely leaving the laptop idle, "sleep" will fully deplete the battery in only 12 hours whereas the battery will last 24 hours in idle. My older laptop with S3 sleep would last for days in sleep mode even with its smaller battery. For companies that have older laptops that still support S3 sleep, don't ever retire those, there's no sign of this issue getting fixed any time soon.

Freezing and Crashing
on October 9, 2023

I bought this laptop (32 GB 1 TB SSD) and had problems right away. I do photo editing using Lightroom and Photoshop. The programs kept crashing and then the laptop would freeze up. Multiple tools would not work and I would get "disk error" messages. Very disappointed! I had high hopes. Returned it.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

EXACT SAME SLEEP WAKE ISSUES AS LAST GENERATION!

This is embarrassing. Multiple generations later and it appears that all the AMD variants of these laptops have sleep wake issues. Close the lid and open it just to see flashing pulsating sleep LED. And before you rule it out as a defect I've received 3 replacements all with the exact same issue. I even had their last generation laptop the P16s G1 AMD and that one had the exact same problem. No fix has been issued for 3+ years and when I send my laptop to Lenovo, they pretend the issue doesn't exist or they can't recreate it. It's gotten to the point where I can't sleep my system for longer than 4 days.
To add to the support woes, it's just downright bad. I am a student, so I need my PC fast and they took over a month to get my laptop back to me. For context, that's nearly half the quarter I am in school. And it came back with a broken display as well. The laptops seem good on paper but it's what's not on the paper that really breaks it along with the abomination of a support team they have. I've sent my laptop back and forth for about 8 months and I still have a broken laptop with nonfunctional sleep. I would advise anybody thinking of any AMD laptop from Lenovo to just decide against it. Read all the sleep wake issues regarding this laptop on reddit and you won't regret it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am extremely happy with this purchase. The laptop is fast, lightweight, and has plenty of memory for the simultaneous resource-intensive applications I use. The only criticism I have is with the keyboard. The separate number pad takes up space that I don't need. On a curious note, does anyone really use the red TrackPoint button on the keyboard?
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great laptop Ideal for a starting college student. powerful and lightweight backed by one of the top computer manufacturers. excellent options and a list of standard feature.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Overall I really like this laptop. It is plenty fast! And the screen looks beautiful. My one issue is with the keyboard. I bought this to replace my trusty T580 Thinkpad, and I noticed right away that the keyboard felt cheaper. The keys have a lower profile and don't travel as much as the T580. The low profile of the left mouse key above the keypad is so low, that I'm constantly blocked when attempting to do a click/drag motion. As I press the left mouse key above the touch pad, my finger often barely touches the corner of the mouse pad. This disallows the dragging motion I'm trying to do with my left hand. It's been many weeks, and I'm still trying to get used to it. I never had this problem with the T580.
