Not impressed with MFC-J6940DW

This our 4th Brother printer and this model is not of the same quality or robustness. The things which have changed are: 1. Sensitive to head clogging we need to clean heads on a regular basis particularly after colour prints; 2. When inks are low the printer just stops printing without telling us and we need to check to work out that it is because one of the inks is low; 3. Low ink stops printing even though the print measure is telling us we have enough to do more prints so we are changing the ink cartridges more often and going through lots more ink; 3. the printer is asking for more updates than any of our previous Brother printers which have all been MFC-JXXX DW printers.
We have had such great Brother printers which have always been reliable and supported us well in our small but busy office. We expected to have the same quality of machine this time but it is not living up to the previous models.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Terrible terrible terrible connection issues!

Don’t bother buying this nonsense unless you want to spend your life trying to connect it to the internet and phone! It’s so slow! And I’ve spent more of my life trying connect this thing to a perfect internet connection than anything else in life! The printing is great providing you can get the thing to print and do the job it’s supposed to be for! Absolutely ridiculous! Whenever the stupid thing does a stupid update it loses connection! Then it takes a million and one years to connect to the Internet! I was compelled to write this review to show how fed up I am with this pile of junk! I had a hewlett packard printer before this monstrosity and I didn’t have any issues connecting and it was fast! And ancient! Still did the job! Never going to buy a brother printer again! Shockingly bad! And far far far too expensive for what it is! The software on this junk is terrible! Sort it out brother!

Does the Job

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This printer is just amazing and does the job. it is a bit large and takes up some space in my upcoming home office but I am super happy with the way it looks and how it works!
I like that there are options to print different size and can customise the size depending on what I need and want with an exceptional printer quality, and I love that it does its job fast so no waiting around whilst its printing. I also love that I can print, scan and copy all in one device. The set up of the printer was easy, just follow the clear instruction provided with the printer. Also worth noting that both wired and wireless printing was a breeze!
I am yet to try the app, but have downloaded it and set up which was also very user friendly and easy. Thank you Brother for making my life easy with this printer in that aspect! I also love that it came with ink cartridges that are separate for each colour, so no ink wastage which is important to me in cost aspect. Also with costs, I have to print many pages of documents for my job so I am glad that it has double side printing with out any manual involvement which my previous printer lacked and I can save both time and paper as well.

Best Small Business Printer Out There

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Quite simple a powerhouse of a printer. It does ever tak thrown at it exemplary well. Setting up in a technophobe office was a breeze. The print quality is second to none, and it printed the jobs with 0 errors. Scanning and photocopying, sending to emails all work flawlessly. And did I mention the print quality, it’s great.
I would recommend this all day every day for small business owners. And if you have the room even home use!

The most amazing business printer on the market!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] i was so excited to open my new printer I knew this was going to be amazing for my business and help so much. It took less than 10 minutes to set up the ink was super easy to install I love how the paper tray adjusts to different sizes A4 has been my favourite so far but looking forward to printing some leaflets in the upcoming weeks. The ink seem’s to hold so much more so in the long run this printer is worth having over my normal old basic printer. The scan, photo copy and fax is a great bonus but I love how I can print from my laptop, tablet and phone it’s great when I need to print on the go I can just use my phone but when I have lots of documents my laptop is my second option. The print quality and speed is really impressive I have been printing logo stickers and photos to add to products. I can’t wait to use this more it has given me more motivation to design my own labels, logos, flyers, business cards to hand out for my business I would highly recommend this printer to anyone it’s big but not bulky it fits nicely in my office. You won’t be disappointed as it has so many cool features I never knew I needed a bigger printer but reviewing this has changed my whole mindset if your thinking about getting one then please do there is lots more models to try but the MFC-J6940DW is my first preference.

Great and handy tool for moderate needs

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The printer was easy to set up with minimal technical hurdles. It went through couple of initial reboot sequence following OTA firmware update and it was a breeze from that point. The ink compartment has been located on the side with a catch flap which is very convenient. The intuitive touch screen is very responsive and easy to operate. So far I have printed about 300 pages of documents and the ink levels are holding up really well.
Some nudges I've felt while using it so far:
1. The hinge for the scanner flap is not well designed for soft close. When I first used the optical scanner the top lid dropped hard on the scanner and this could do with some soft closing mechanism.

Great printer

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve been looking for a new printer for ages before I found this one. I’ve only heard good things about brother so far as well. Once the printer arrived it was a bit bigger than expected but that’s the only small inconvenience I’ve experienced. The setup was very easy and I didn’t have any issues with connecting it to my devices. I love that I can print from all of my electronic devices including my phone – I’m not just limited to my laptop. The quality of the printed materials is amazing as well and I haven’t had any issues with the amount of stuff I have been printing. Printing is super easy and quick. The printer has a lot of other features as well such as scanning and copying which worked well for me. You can also print different sizes (A5, A3, etc.) but I haven’t actually tried that yet.
I would definitely recommend this printer to people who print quite a lot or just want to upgrade from their old printers.
