The pad felt soft through the opening. However after opening the package the pad was firmer than I expected. The firmness along with the beveled design put point pressure on my wrists. At first use my hands started to fall asleep because of the pressure. I tried the pad in different orientations but had the same issue. I returned the pad and will continue using a towel.
