Growing up my dad or uncles always mowed the yard. When I moved into my first home, my ex-boyfriend always mowed the yard. So here I am 47 years old and never mowed a yard before! I was intimated by gas mower because of the upkeep and fumes released into the environment. I read the reviews online about how easy cordless mowers are to maintain and the plus side no toxic fumes released into the environment. So Sunjoe came up in my web searches.
When I get the package, I was worried I wouldn't be able to assemble it without help, but EVERYTHING was so easy. I am on 1/2 acre so it takes two charges to finish my lawn, but I don't mind it. My grass was very high when I first got my SJ so it took quite a few charges to finish my lawn but I am impressed with how well it cuts and how lightweight it is!

This is an excellent cordless mower for small yards or for cutting in tight spaces around flower beds, decks, porches, fence lines, etc.
Assembly out of the box takes 10 minutes. You'll only need a phillips screwdriver to attach the handle. For safety, it even comes with a key that you can keep secure, the mower will not operate without the key. Keeps curious kids from starting the mower.
Once assembled, charge the battery using the wall charger. When the light is green you are set. Max charge time will take 4 hours, usually less.
Fully charged this will run for about 30 minutes cutting normal lawn grass.
The collection bag fits securely on the back and will hold ten gallons of clippings/leaves before it needs to be dumped. It removes easily for fast bag emptying.
Deck height has three adjustments and can be done tool free. Love that!
This cuts easily, pushed like a dream because it barely weighs 23 pounds total. On regular grass we cut 30 minutes of cut time, on very thick or damp grass cutting time will be reduced.
This is an excellent mower for those that have small yards, condos, or like me, someone that wants to trim close to garden features, lawn ornaments, against fence lines and garden beds where the big riding mower won't fit.
It’s easy to turn on and it’s light but my biggest struggle is the short battery life. If the grass is longer you can only get a few strips done before the battery drains. With a normal length I still can only get either the front or back yard done, it takes 5 hours to fully charge so it’s a full day project to mow your yard. With a gas mower it only takes 40 min to mow my yard.

I wanted an easy lawnmower for me because I have Rheumatoid Arthritis. I bought a Sun Joe electric lawn mower. It is light enough for me to lift and I plug it in and charge the battery and it did my side yard and all but the middle of my lawn before dying. I’m charging taking a break and should be able to finish it in about an hour. No gas no spark plugs so easy. Push a button and go! I’m happy with it! My next Sun Joe will be wider. It also will probably do the whole lawn if it’s not as long and not as wet. My only wish for future generations of Sun Joe’s is to add something to the handle to keep it on as it is hard with Rheumatoid to hold that down the entire time. I may figure something out for me.

Took 15mins to put together, charged, cut grass and put it away. Wife loves the lightness and quietness of it.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Despite a minor 'hiccup' with my initial purchase where the battery failed after only two uses--once I received the replacement, it has worked wonderfully. Great for small lawns, and very light. Easy to store as you can pick it up with one hand!
Our little Sun Joe cordless is our second purchase-- We bought a corded at the start of the season--love it---but it's tough to get enough cord to the sides and top corners of the yard. So we bought the Sun Joe cordless--and it is just as capable as the corded version--but we're keeping both- because we use them for different situations. I will say too that we bought the optional side discharge assembly-- and exceptionally good investment since the Sun Joe Grass Basket is so small as to be of little practical use. Overall-- both the corded and the cordless are amazing little machines that cut our yard extremely well--and are virtually maintenance free--and non polluting.
