[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Brother QL-820NWBC is a high-speed label printer that prints black and red. It quickly prints black & white labels for envelopes, packages, folders, barcodes and much more. It has wirless interface and has multiple connectivity options so you can print from anywhere. It prints red and black labels up to 2.4" wide. Prints up to 110 standard address labels in a minute. Create & print labels from your iPhone or Android mobile device when connected to a wireless network via the Brother iPrint&Label app. You can use label templates or create your own custom labels. It has an easy to read LCD screen that allows for standalone use. Uses Brother genuine DK drop in labeling supplies and needs no ink or toner. I am happy with this Brother QL-820NWBC Label Printer, it is convenient & easy to use.

Super fast printing

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got this to use for printing address labels and ID labels for the company my husband and I own. I’m not techno-savvy, so it took a bit of doing to get set up, even with the instructions that come with the device. I wish the owners manual also came with it instead of having to hunt it down and print off what you need. Even so, I did finally figure out how to get it up and running. I do like that it has the capability of using the mobile device, but my mobile wifi can be spotty at times, and so it kept disconnecting. I do like the apps to use when it does work, as they were easy to figure out, which is nice when you are printing multiple labels with the same design, so they print super fast and the labels are surprisingly clear, not smudged. If you change the design, though, it can get time consuming. I did have a time trying to do the black and red label, as I got confused when switching between the single color and using 2 colors. I would definitely recommend this for home office or office use as you can stay hooked up to consistent wifi as opposed to mobile use, which I was a bit disappointed about, but otherwise, it’s a really nice product!

Prints address labels from spreadsheet

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Upon opening the box, I was happy to see sample rolls of address labels and red/black paper tape because it allowed me to become familiar with the printer before right away. Also included in the box was the printer itself, a DC adapter, a power cord, user manuals, and a USB data cable. While the printer features an ethernet port, an ethernet cable was not provided.
Setup is fairly straightforward but there are a couple of pain points. After installing the roll of labels, the printer complained, “Wrong Roll Type”. After researching online, I found a solution which was to turn off Template Mode in Template Settings using the Menu button. It took a few minutes to figure out how to get the error message to go away first, though, because none of the buttons work when this error is active. Ultimately, I had to turn off the printer, remove the labels, and turn on the printer to gain access to the menu. The second issue I had was, I could not print to the printer from my iPhone via Bluetooth as long as I had WiFi enabled on the printer at the same time. The easy fix, of course, was to switch off WiFi in the settings.
The manufacturer explains how to install the rechargeable battery. Don’t tear your box apart looking for this because it is not included. This item is an add-on that you can purchase from the manufacturer and certain retailers. I personally don’t need this for my company but it’s nice to know that I have the option.
The setup guide is quite lengthy but I highly advise following it. There are steps that, if missed, can lead to confusion and cause your setup time to extend unnecessarily. For example, I assumed that I would be able to search for the editing software on the main Brother website and find what I needed. This wasn’t the case and I nearly gave up until I decided to carefully refer back to the steps. Brother has a special website that points to the URL. Without it, I never would have found the app. Speaking of which, I was so glad to see that the full version was compatible with Mac. It has been my experience with other peripherals that Mac either gets a Lite version or is only limited to basic device functions. The app is fairly easy to use for someone who has experience working in an office, but I would not recommend it to a beginner. Of course, most beginners aren’t buying label printers. My favorite feature is the ability to import a spreadsheet and print address labels using a user-formatted layout. In fact, the first big task I performed was a postal campaign for everyone on my mailing list. I usually let my printing company handle this, but why pay extra when you can do it yourself?
Printing is fast and quiet. The quality of text and clipart is very nice but I have noticed that image (actual photos) quality depends a lot on the paper I am using. Cutting is crisp and accurate as well. Communication from the computer via USB cable is super fast, but Bluetooth from iOS devices is nearly the same speed. The only difference is that the computer app gives more editing tools and freedom. I only used the phone, for example, when I want to print a quick label. I most commonly use labels for file folders and address labels.
According to the manual, it is best to keep the protector sheet in the printer when it is not in use, so I slip it in place at the end of the day. It’s supposed to help keep it clean. Since it’s really the only thing they strongly advise, I am careful to follow it.
The software does not automatically recognize the label type. So, every time I open the software and print for the first time, I have to click the button to Check Media. It seems to me if the software and hardware have the ability to detect the media, why doesn’t it just automatically do this?
Overall, this printer is versatile, quiet, and prints (text and clipart especially) well. It has the ability to be mobile with its optional lithium battery and is easily portable thanks to its size. Setup is only slightly clunky but a tech-savvy person will navigate with no difficulty. I would recommend this printer most to anyone needing to print large numbers of address labels from a spreadsheet. The occasional labeler might find slight frustration with having to press the “Check Media” button every time they use the software. I personally don’t mind it too much, especially since it’s my hope that Brother will remedy this in the next app update.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Brother QL-820NWBC Ultra is a great little printer. The most important feature to me was the ethernet port. The printer can be used through WIFI but not many manufacturers make a printer that can be wired. The printer was easy to configure on the network. The printer offers quick printing and boy does it print clearly! The printer will only use label stock made by Brother. However, there is continuous roll stock available. Again, hard to find continuous roll stock for these types of printers. The printer also offers 2 color printer, red and black. That is pretty sweet! This is a very economical printer, no ribbon to replace, no messy ink or

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great little printer. I am not the most tech savvy person but was able to install myself. It was great and the color is nice and vibrant. I was already a brother user, we have two paper printers at home and I love the longevity of the ink. Great quality, great brand.
