Doesn't work
on March 4, 2024
Posted by: cat27
from Toronto, Ontario
I ordered a set of three refills and two aren't properly wound as there is no lead for the machine to grab. I tried to get the top off as suggested but was afraid to crack the casing as it did not budge. Poor quality control, and now I have to return the lot or pay 3x what I should have to use the one useable refill.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Bad tape
on December 30, 2023

I should have read the reviews before buying my tape as mine will not feed. There is no tag end and I will not put holes in the case because I would not be able to exchange for another. If there are other tapes that are no good what should the store do with them?

IMPROPERLY WOUND!!

Normally this review would be five stars. I love my labeler (gray LetraTag), but with the last tape cassette I bought the tape was not visible external to the plastic cassette, so it never fed into the machine and thus was a complete waste of my purchase. SO, IN THE FUTURE I WILL (and you should too) ALWAYS CHECK IN THE PLASTIC WINDOW OF THE PACKAGING THAT THE TAPE HAS BEEN PROPERLY WOUND AND READY FOR PICK UP BY THE MACHINE!!!!!!!!! Save yourself a trip back to the store because of poor product quality control.

Thank you for your quick response, the fix was very simple and easy. The only question I have is can you make clear plastic tape with other colors, as some of the things I label are black or very dark? Thanks again for the rapid response.

Good quality labels

I used this printer and all the labels for over a year now and they work perfectly, the labels are of good quality. I see a lot of bad review and really think that it may have just been a bad batch sent out to some customers as I never had an issue even once.

Tape quality has diminished

Very difficult to remove the backing from the tape.
Response from Dymo.comBy DYMO NA, October 9, 2024
Hi.
Thank you for contacting us and sharing your feedback with us.
We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused.
To remove the backing from a DYMO D1 tape, follow these steps: 1. Print your label using your DYMO label maker. 2. Once the label is printed, use a pair of scissors or a sharp knife to cut off the excess tape on each end of the label. 3. Then, turn the label over and locate the split in the middle of the backing. 4. Use your fingernail or a pair of tweezers to peel the backing away from the tape at one end of the label. 5. Slowly and carefully peel the backing away from the tape, working your way down the label towards the other end. 6. Once the backing is removed, you can apply the label to your desired surface. Note: It's important to peel the backing away slowly and carefully to avoid tearing the tape or leaving any adhesive residue on the label. If you do encounter any adhesive residue, you can use a cloth dampened with rubbing alcohol or an adhesive remover to clean it off.
If you are still having issues (If you have more questions or feedback), please reach out to us via our website or through LiveChat. We’re available Mon.-Fri. 9am - 5pm Eastern Time.

Look good and print easily

These labels are excellent. Some reviews complain about the tape not coming out of the cartridge properly, but that is super easy to fix; just pop the case open and feed the end into the track. This happens all the time when I store the labels in a drawer. The label prints nicely and sticks well. The folks who complain probably can't figure out how to use Q-tips.
