after having this for one year, now the machine will not recognize the labels that go with the machine, I have spent way to much time trying to re download now time to throw this in the trash

WARNING DO NOT BUY

we have printed off 10s of thousands of labels on the dymo 450, then the dymo makers decided to mess with it. hey guys if its not broke dont fix it. ill be looking for a new label maker this one is terrible. DO NOT BUY!!

550 turbo is the worst

the old DYMO is great but this 550 turbo is a disaster, software is difficult to work with and labels are not reading DYMO or not DYMO .

We would like to inform you that LabelWriter 5 series printers are compatible with all DYMO labels manufactured after April 2020.
To determine if your labels are compatible with the LabelWriter 5 series, please check the packaging or the core of the labels. If the packaging is blue with two black dots next to the barcode or green with the recycling sign at the left bottom corner of the front part of the package, then the labels are compatible. Additionally, if there is a DYMO logo on the core of the labels, they are compatible with the LabelWriter 5 series.
If your labels are compatible, please power cycle the printer by removing the power, labels, and USB cable. Press the power button 15 times. Re-connect the power and insert the labels, making sure they are aligned to the left side and the perforations are on your left side. Press the forward button to feed one label, then connect the USB cable and try to print a label.
Furthermore, if the steps do not work, we recommend cleaning the printer sensors by following the step-by-step instructions on our Help Center. Then set your computer setting region to the United States, and uninstall and reinstall DYMO Connect Software version 1.4.3.
We recommend using DYMO authentic labels as they reduce issues such as misaligned printing, excessive feeding, and label jams. We also guarantee that our labels will provide you with the best user experience.

Purchase a different label maker/ barcode reader

We are using the Dymo brand labels and they are not working. We purchased more Dymo labels and they still do not work. I can get 1-2 labels to print but then it says we are out of labels even though we have a full roll!

Great... when it works

I am so sick and tired of this thing not reckignizing its only propritary labels.... using DYMO labels.. and it will print a few off, then go into an Error state and say its out of labels when in fact its completely full of its very expensive labels.. the only help to be found online says.... "Make sure you are using our labels"... thanks.. really helpful... I AM!

Work Around For DYMO Authentic Labels

I used to love Dymo printers. they would take a beating and just keep going. But now they have switched to a RF ID Code barcode label to keep you from using knock off labels. While I understand they need to make money this causes lots of problems. Number one being that the labels are not detected every time. This is a quality control issue. If you unwrapped a roll of labels and get all the way to the last one you will see the RF ID sticker on the label. peel that sticker off and place it face down on the bottom of the printer. then reload your labels. Most of the RF ID's are bent or broken causing the printer to not recognize the label.

OLD DYMO PRINTERS WERE GREAT - THE 550 IS CRAP

I use NOTHING but the Dymo Labels that I purchased from your site and also from the WBMason site. The labels are seldom recognized as Dymo labels and I'm tired of it. I have to leave my desk and use someone else's old printer so I can print labels. I don't care how many times you tell me about the proprietary labels and not. Since day one I am using exclusively Dymo labels and I get nowhere. Please do something about this because it's nerve wrecking and slows me down tremendously.
