Horrible software

I purchased the DYMO Labelwriter 450 Twin Turbo two years ago and used it constantly. It was fantastic. Then DYMO decided to "upgrade" the software, and that is when it stopped being used. I kept the old software on my laptop even though it would automatically look for a software update, which I had to stop manually. Then one day, my laptop acted up, and I had to reinstall my operating system on it, thus ruining my workaround for the DYMO modern software. Now that I have lost the old software, I cannot figure out how to create or import contacts and have them printed with a bar code to help the USPS deliver them. I can't be the only one extremely unhappy with their software.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The DYMO label Software which is the older software version and you can download this software on your new computer from dymo.com>Support>Download Software>Not sure which software to choose>Compatibility chart> Select DYMO Label Software version based on the Operating System your computer has.
In addition, you can create and import contact and data from the DYMO Label Software. You can find the simplified guide on how to do this on dymo.com>Support>Dymo Help Center>Software>How to use DYMO Label Softwarev8.

Not easy to use

Our Older model was great. This one is Not easy to use. The older model I could pull up my contact list and print them all at once. If there is a way to do it with this one, I have not found it yet.

We are sorry for the the inconveniences caused by our software update. The option is still available on the new software as well to print multiple addresses at same time from the list. Also you could import all the addressbooks from the old software to new software and print. If you are using 4 series printers and wanted to use that old software, it is still available to download and install from our website under support option. Bad - Do not recommend.

I get the dreaded "Unknown Label detected" when using the Dymo labels. Have to shut it off and turn it on then it works for a few before going back into a broken state. Clearly by all the other reviews the company has a problem they badly need to fix. Should not be this many issues.

We apologize for the inconvenience you are experiencing with our new label rolls. "Unknown Labels detected" this error is given when old DYMO labels are used which are manufactured before April 2020 as they have no RFID chip in them. Only labels which are manufactured after April 2020 are compatible with 5 series printers and gives no error. However, we appreciate your feedback which helps us in improving our products.

Unable to detect labels. Waste labels just trying to get this thing to work. Poor quality.

To resolve the issue, please power cycle the printer by removing the labels, power adapter, and USB cable and then pressing the power button 15 times after that. Insert the power, turn the printer on and then insert the labels making sure the holes are aligned all the way to the left side. Press the forward button to feed one label through, and then try to print a label.

NEVER WORKS

I bought 2 of 5XL printers and one works flawlessly and the other is nothing more than a nightmare it never picks up the DYMO labels i bought. I do not recommend this product to anyone. 0/5 stars.

Please try power cycling the device by removing the labels, power adapter and USB cable from the printer. Press the power button 15 times. Connect the power, turn the printer on and Insert you labels, connect the USB cable and try to print a label.

AVOID ALL DYMO PRODUCTS and PAS IT ON!

Because I had my Dymo 450 Twin Turbo for more than 30 years and it worked flawlessly, until it recently broke, I bought it without looking at and comments here. What a MISTAKE! MIGHT AS WELL HAVE THROWN THE MONEY WAY! I am a journalist for a daily newspaper and TV. RECOMMENDING in print and on the air to AVOID buying ANY DYMO product and DUMP their stock before it CRASHES -- ANY company that puts its consumers LAST and redesigns its products deserves to go belly up right away! Their new products SUCK! I would rate this -10!

Stay away

My IT Manager came up to set it up - Couldn't transfer my files. To add a new address is not easy and it looks like I can only save 20 labels, editing or deleting duplicates is impossible. I went from a 330 to the 550 wish I had the 330 back if I could bring it back to life along with its easy use software,

Since you were using our DYMO Label Software before, it is possible to transfer you whole Address Book into Dymo Connect. Please make sure you have DYMO Connect version 1.4.3 installed first, then click File>Manage Contacts, click on My Contacts and select Import from DYMO Label.
After successfully browsing and importing your Address Book, go back to DYMO Connect, select ADD and choose Address, you will see Manage Contacts on your left side, select your Address Book from the drop-down and choose the address you want to print.

Proprietary Labels are for greedy companies

I will never purchase Dymo products again. Using proprietary labels is unacceptable. We used to buy up to 10 printers a year and 100's of rolls of labels. No longer. This is because of your greed.
