Complicated Instructions for Setting Up

Without definitions of your technical terms and instructions for set up, your instructions are not understandable to the novice user. For instance, setting the "tab" length and label length and font size are not clearly spelled out in easy-to-understand terms in your instructions.

Great heavy duty label maker

Overall I am very happy with this label maker. It has a lot of options that help to customize your labels including 2 fonts, varied styles and sizes. There are a few things that helped this label maker stand from others I have used in the past, such as this is a sturdy label maker, I don`t feel like it will break if my toddler accidentally gets ahold of it, another is the ability to use batteries or the a/c adapter. This is very helpful as it can be portable to help me organize my pantry, or I can plug it in when working on a larger craft project. Also it will be helpful in a larger project as it allows you to print up to 9 of the same label at a time, and it is able to save file for future use. Price wise I feel the cost is good for the amount of features this machine has, and there are a variety of tapes available for reasonable prices. I don`t feel like i`m going to break the bank on supplies. One thing that I felt was both a pro and a con was the symbols. There are two sets of symbols available, basic and pictograph. Its nice to have options, the basic symbols print well and there are a good amount of them. The pictograph also has a good amount of symbols which print beautifully however on the screen they are almost impossible to know what they are. when printing the symbols the label printed more symbols than can be shown on the screen, after the 8th symbol it will only show 8 at a time. Another issue I had with the symbols is that its a tedious task that requires multiple button pushes in order to enter a symbol. If you would like to enter the same symbol twice you have to go through all of the steps each time. Overall this label printer does a great job of fitting many different uses, and I`m looking forward to finding all those uses.

Label With Ease

Upon receiving the label maker, I was extremely excited. I`m a teacher and it came in handy with the start of a brand new school year. I, first, used the device to label my students` work folders. Unlike other ones I have used, this particular model seemed to be more user-friendly. In the past, I would feel the label maker vibrate as the tape created the label desired. However, with the PT2040C, label generation was silent and sleek. The cut feature was precise and didn`t require a force push of a button. That actually is my favorite feature because this makes the device more ergonomic for my hands. All-in-all, this is the most sleek and user friendly label maker that the Brother brand has created. It is definitely my recommended contender amongst other brands and models.

Label maker was user friendly, easy to put together. Label maker is compact and light weight.Font on label print was very clear to read. You can preview the words before printing which is a very nice feature. The only complaint was the product did not come with the AA batteries. I would definitely recommend this label maker to help with organizing and labeling items.

Font Not Big Enough

Brothers did not supply me with this P- Touch I bought it.
This is a good little machine, easy to use and to understand the instructions. I'm very disappointed with how small the largest font is. There is one at work I borrow all the time I thought it was time to get my own but the fonts on this one is a lot smaller than the one at work. I have really poor eye sight so I was hoping this would work for me. For what this machine is for you would made the fonts bigger. Other than the fonts this is a good machine that's easy to use.

Wasteful label maker

There is one inch of space between the print head and the cutter blade in the Brother PT2040C label machine. The layers of P-touch tape must pass through this space, so one inch of tape must feed before the label prints.
The Chain Print setting will only feed and cut one inch of tape before the first label. Subsequent printed labels will be cut with the smallest margin. The next printed label will remain in the label machine until manually fed and cut.
Select chain printing:
1. Press Fn.
2. Press ◄ or ► to select Margin.
3. Press OK and the current margin is displayed.
4. Press ◄ or ► to select Chain Print.
Feed the tape before cutting the label or part of the text may be cut off. Hold Shift and press Print to feed the tape. After the machine stops feeding the tape, press the cutter lever to cut off the strip of labels.
5. Press OK to set the margin setting.
The Chain Print setting will only feed and cut one inch of tape before the first label. Subsequent printed labels will be cut with the smallest margin. The next printed label will remain in the label machine until manually fed and cut.
