Replaced my 15 year old VM, and they’re not as substantial as they once were. Pitcher feele flimsy but still a great smoothie maker. Have to get pitcher lined up just right or metal parts can get stripped.

This is the best blender design I have ever used! I make mass gainer protein shakes every day, and on many other blenders from other companies, a hard biofilm would eventually form in between and underneath the blades. My last blender in particular had 4 blades joined by a bolt and washer and I would have to periodically go through all the effort to disassemble it to scrub the biofilm that got stuck in between the blades. The Vitamix 5200 has a single blade design, so there is nowhere for residual protein powder to get stuck and makes cleaning so simple and easy. The cap design is great too because it's a smooth cup design with no ridges, so protein shake residue can't get stuck in any folds. This was twice as expensive as the most expensive blender I owned previously, but the great warranty, great power, and ease of cleaning make this the best blender I have ever owned and justifies the price.

So far this workhorse is worth the money! Our household whips up thick smoothies 3 to 4 times a week and our last blender just couldn’t take it any longer. I knew it was time to finally invest in something that could plow through ice and frozen fruit without risk of burning up. I am thoroughly impressed at the power of the blender and hope it will last for years to come.

If your Vitamix shut down while blending, it is likely it temporarily overheated. Sometimes the machine may emit a burning odor and/or stop temporarily because its thermal protector sensed that the machine was close to overheating. If this occurs, we recommend turning the power switch off for up to 45 minutes, allowing the machine to cool down or reset. To avoid overheating your machine in the future, be sure to ramp the machine up to the highest speed within five seconds of turning it on to activate the cooling fan in the motor.
If you have not done so already, please try to power your Vitamix on today to see if it has regained power. If not, we suggest attempting to power the Vitamix on using an outlet in a different room, as this may sometimes be required to reset it.
