Had the same 5000 unit for 25 years with zero issues. Wanted a refresh. Got the 5200 after trying a couple less expensive vitamix models. They just don’t make these blenders like they use to. I sure do wish the motor was stronger. All models shut off while just blending a basic half melted smoothie for a couple minutes. Same frozen smoothie I’ve been making for years in my old 5000. Such a bummer.

Hi, we are sorry to hear that you are not enjoying your new Vitamix as well as your last one. If your Vitamix shut down while you were blending, it is likely it temporarily overheated. Sometimes the machine may emit a burning odor and/or stop temporarily because its thermal protector sensed that the machine was close to overheating. If this occurs, we recommend turning the power switch off for up to 45 minutes, allowing the machine to cool down or reset. To avoid overheating your machine in the future, be sure to ramp the machine up to the highest speed within five seconds of turning it on to activate the cooling fan in the motor.

I have been using my Vitamix 5200 every day for the past 15 years.. It has performed perfectly the entire time with no issues at all. I use it mostly for smoothies, but I will occasionally make ice cream and soup as well.

Love the 5200. Had a different make that did what I wanted well, but I was never confident it could handle what I was tasking it with. The motor in the 5200 is superior, in this case you get what you pay for. It handles large quantities as well as small quantities. I have not found a need the personalized size attachment for the 5200.

We've had this blender for a couple months now. Wow, should have bought it sooner to replace my sad old blender. We've made many shakes with frozen fruit, yogurt, kale, etc - all so easy and blended very smooth. Also used it to make "cream of..." soups that resulted in a very smooth, creamy texture. Clean up is easy if you use their recommendation - a couple drops of dish soap and fill with water about 1/4 full, run, then rinse well.
