I bought a Vita Mix in the late seventies and used it a lot- always wanted to replace it, and finally have. The new Vita Mix starts to spin when the machine is turned on, and has no way to turn it to stop spinning when set below position "1" . It has been quite awhile ago, but i did not remember this aspect of the control being an issue. Further, the rheostat does not function smoothly when the unit speed is advancing upwards to ten, no matter how slowly or quickly i adjust the settings 1 through 10. Yes i understand that "off" is functional as "0". I suspect that the rheostat is faulty, as it tends to "stutter" during the process of being advanced position "1" through "10" on this brand new machine. " They don't make things the way They used to" is an all to familiar refrain. But in 45 years, there has been every opportunity to redress developmental flaws and source quality parts for the betterment of a great product- and in my opinion, a different path than that has been applied. I still appreciate the product, but after only using it three times to make i don't expect it to be long lived. They are quieter than i remember. That's a plus. Good luck with Your choices as a manufacturer, and good luck to all new users/ clients. Be Well. Thanks for the opportunity to express my opinion. Mike
I am really disappointed with my purchase. I have had a re conditioned 5200 for over 10 years and decided to take advantage of Vitamix sale and pass mine on to my daughter. I bought a NEW 5200- same exact model, horsepower etc only this was a NEW one- not reconditioned. When I received it- I tried it out- now more than a month- and it just isn't the same. It sounds different, its NOT as powerful for sure. The base is also MUCH lighter in weight. I make the Same exact smoothies every morning- 3 different ones for my family. I have been using it for this past month- and STILL doesn't blend as well as the 10 yr old reconditioned one! I have even tried a different blender jar- I bought the stainless steel one- and tried that too- and still the same. I intend to contact Vitamix to see what my options are- but my Old 10 year old one is still head and shoulders above this new one! I feel the quality has really declined in the past 10 years.

Hi there. We are sorry to hear of your experience with your new 5200. Please call us at 1-800-848-2649, we would be happy to further assist.
Its finally good to have the best on my counter! It does it all, it has the best vortex action of any blender on the market and is super easy to use. Where its a fresh peach daiquiri, making basil pesto, butternut squash soup or whatever, it does a marvelous job. Well worth the money.
I have used this Vitamix to blend fruits and vegetables. With the narrower base it has worked very well at blending everything into a smooth drinkable healthy beverage in a short amount of time.
Pros: Speed of Service, Texture Quality, Durability, Easy to use, Product features, Power
