I purchased these headphones and a second pair, as gifts for other people. Your sales workflow in the online store doesn't appear to accommodate such a circumstance for existing members. I now recieve emails like this, and all of the helpful informational ones for new owners twice as if I'm a new user/owner, whereas my own set of headphones was already registered through the site and app. It's quite annoying, and I imagine a real pain in the neck to try and sort it out with your systems. So hopefully it will stop when the recipients register their ownership.

Unit buzzing

I broke the last pair of headphones I owned… when I enquired with Sony about getting them fixed they offered a really great discount on just replacing them. So, I went for it but the first time I put the new pair on I noticed a buzzing sound in the left ear. I’ve been calling, emailing and chatting with Sony almost daily and struggling to get them to commit to just swapping them out for a new pair. I know these things happen but I don’t understand why I have to continually chase them to get this sorted. I just want a new pair of headphones that work without static or buzzing. #sigh
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Perhaps the worst purchase of my entire life.
Perhaps the worst purchase of my entire life.
When your fragile hinges break in less than a year of gentle use and Sony will blame you for the damage and refuse to honour their own guarantee.
It's so widespread and well documented that this particular model is subject to a class action lawsuit in New York (google 'Kanter v. Sony Corporation Of America et al').
Sony will not honour your consumer rights.
