Not what the ring 2 was

I had a ring 2 and it worked great for a long time then it started to not pick up people coming to the door or walking on the side walk right in front of the house. Bought a ring 3 and it was worse than the 2 was so ring sent me another 3 it is better but not as good as the 2 was when we first got it. I will go off of consumer reports ratings next time and go with a different brand

Hi Allen,
We agree it's vital that your Ring Doorbell 3 detect motion within the monitored zones, so you can be alerted when someone is at your door. This is Ring's next-generation doorbell designed with improved motion detection, including the all new near zone. The near zone feature activates a horizontal motion zone in areas only 12 to 15 feet in front of your camera. Here are a few pro-tips for making the most of the motion detection feature on your Ring Doorbell 3.
1. Utilize the Near Zone feature. 2. Mount the Ring Doorbell 3 at about 48 inches (1.22 m) from the ground. 3. If you subscribe to a Ring Protect Plan, you can turn on People Only Mode within the Motion Settings to reduce the number of notifications you receive so that you only receive motion alerts caused by humans. 4. Set the Motion Frequency setting to 'Frequently', to ensure all activity is captured.
Thank you for your diligence with our support team, we are happy to hear they were able to provide you a replacement. We would love the opportunity to assist with optimizing the motion settings. We appreciate that you have placed value in owning Ring devices to secure your home and know it's important that they meet your needs and expectations. Sincerely, Danielle with Ring

Best camera and alert system on the market

I have never felt so safe at home alone. My husband is also able to view the camera while he is at work. And even speak to me from the camera. That’s just my favorite safety feature. You can also customize it to your perfect settings. Example: you have animals/cats... turn on the people only setting for your camera. Over all there’s so many good things to say about ring in general but this doorbell 3 is a game changer. I constantly think about how blessed we are to have been able to invest in our safety this way. Our car is parked outside of our house as well and the doorbell 3 will let us know if anyone is near our car as well. So many great things to say about ring. I have recommended to every person I know. Thank you all for such customized safety features that work well with our family. As every family has a different dynamic and household. We feel so safe and so secure with our system. Thanks again for creating such an amazing product that is customizable for every situation. So much gratitude.

I have been using the door bell for over a month. Other than the slow notice to my phone, I like the camera very well. It takes about 10 seconds to notify my phone but the video is approaching 45 seconds to a minute so I’m not sure an intruder would be seen by me but they would be on my video. I do feel safer

There is a long lag between my notification and the time I'm able to pull up video. When someone is at the door, they are often gone before I get notification.

Hello Cindy59,
The Ring Video Doorbell 3 is designed to connect you to 1080p HD video in a timely manner. We know that every second counts when connecting to live video, as this ensures you can see and speak with visitors. If you are experiencing delays in either receiving notifications or connecting to video, we will want to look at the connection between your wifi router and the Ring device. The signal strength to your router is a key point for the connectivity of your Ring Doorbell 3. There are three main factors that can weaken your wifi strength:
1. Physical obstructions 2. Competing wifi networks 3. Other electronics
You can check your signal strength within the Ring app in the Device Health tile. The RSSI stands for Received Signal Strength Indicator. The RSSI measurement is all the factors that are hurting your signal at the receiving point. While RSSI is measured on a scale of 0 to -99, there won't ever just be one cause that is the culprit for a low RSSI rating. To get the most from your Ring Doorbell 3, aim for a signal of between -40 (near perfect) and -70. The link below has some great tips for improving the signal strength. https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/217271526-Understanding-RSSI-Values-and-Wireless-Signal-Strength
In the meantime, please use our Rapid Ring app. This app was designed to facilitate a speedy response when answering notifications. You'll need to use your original Ring app for all the settings functions built into your Ring device such as seeing past videos or adjusting motion settings. To download the Rapid Ring app, please go to the App Store (for iOS devices) or the Play Store (for Android devices) and search for “Rapid Ring”. Download and install the Rapid Ring app on your mobile device by following these directions: https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360028023571-Rapid-Ring-App-Information.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is an amazing video doorbell packed with great features and functions. The video connects very fast and the quality is superb. I have used other video doorbells in the past and have found this to be best one all around.

Just doesn’t work for us

I’ve had mine for about 3 months. I wound up getting a WiFi extender because the ring needs to be less than 30 feet from your wireless router. After getting the WiFi extender it still won’t upload video and I can’t see who’s at my door. I would be better off with a baby monitor.

Hi JakeOfMs,
Thank you for taking the time to share your Ring experience with us. Having peace of mind that your Ring Video Doorbell 3 has a solid connection is very important, as this ensures you are able to access video anytime day or night.
We understand you've purchased and added a wifi extender to improve performance, which is a great solution for extending your network. If you are using our Ring Chime Pro, it is imperative that the Ring Doorbell 3 is connected to the 'Chime Pro Network'. Otherwise, the doorbell is not utilizing the extended signal. To check, please visit the device page for your Ring Doorbell 3 on the Ring app and then tap on 'Device Health'. This page will show you which network the doorbell is currently connected to. If you see the name of your home wifi listed rather than 'Chime Pro Network', then please tap on the 'Change Wifi Network' button. The app will then guide you on making the network switch.
If the doorbell was already on the 'Chime Pro Network', then we recommend that you try different areas to place your Chime Pro. Eventually, you will find an area that will allow the extended signal to reach the doorbell. It is worth mentioning that the extender can only work as well as the strength of your home wifi signal. For example, if your internet package is not intended to handle multiple wireless devices at once, your Ring Doorbell 3 and Chime Pro will underperform.
We are happy to have you as a part of the Ring Community and want to ensure the device is meeting your needs and expectations. For any additional questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out on our community forum at https://community.ring.com/.
