This tiller made easy work of all the roots from nearby trees. One pass through the garden gave me a nice fluffy workable soil that was ready for transplanting. It saved me hours in muscle aching work.

Tilled up a 24 foot by 10 foot garden in some hard clay soil. Tiller worked like a champ pulling out rocks and tree roots. Mixed in good dirt dead leaves and manure and peat moss in the process. Cut deep on the first pass.

Skeptical about Electric (Until Now)

I purchased the SunJoe TJ604E 13.5 Amp cultivator/tiller for two reasons first, I was just doing a small are 12'x20' vegetable garden and second, I have a torn up shoulder and pull starting gas engine powered equipment is not very much fun for me. I prepared my area by weed whacking (electric as well) the grass down as far as I could. I went thru and made sure all stick and debris were cleaned out, and proceeded to break right through sod and down a good solid 6-8 inches below. It did jump a little bit but as light as this machine is it was not too tramatizing on my shoulder and this was mostly only at first. Once I got used to the tiller and figured out how it worked best the rest went really smooth. I was completely impressed and would definitely recommend to friends and family. The most impressive thing however occurred literally on my last pass and about 4 feet from the end. The tiller picked up a buried horseshoe and wedged it up under the deck between the drive housing and the tines (really wedged good). I removed the shoe and inspected the area really well and was surprised to find no damage and it wasn't broken and no bent tines. So it is a tough little machine, you can't go wrong with this little tiller.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have not used this yet as the snow is now leaving, and groung is way too wet. But hope to get started in the next two weeks. Came boxed well, and easy to finish the minor assembly. Will check the gearbox oil in the next day or so and be ready to run when land is ready.

I got this tiller to use to loosen up the soil in the chicken run mainly, but after finding out how well and easy it works I will probably have other uses for it. It is more powerful than I had thought it would be. It cut right through some roots about 1 or 1 1/2 inches in diameter. It is not as loud as I thought. The chickens do not freak out like they do when I use a weed eater or a blower any where near their run. The do stay on the other side of the run, but not really upset at all. As soon as I stop they run over looking for worms or bugs. I recommend this tiller totally. Nice that you do not have to worry with gas/oil or getting it started.

I borrowed my daughters Sun Joe last year to see how my old bad back would handle using it. Nice! I was able to load it and remove it from my car by myself, and easily roll it to the spot in the backyard where I was going to use it.
Last year I did a small bed with my daughters' this year I bought one for myself and used my Sun Joe to till 2-40'x4' beds, a 30' foot 16" wide bed, and 2-4'x6' beds. I still had to take breaks but the Sun Joe is easier to use then gas powered front tine or rear tine tillers. I like this tiller!
