[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a very nice and well made shredder. It easily cut through the paper and cards that I put through it. The bin is huge! It holds so much paper. You can shred tons before you have to empty it. The bin tips out making it easy to empty. The shredder is in my bedroom and rolls easily out of the way when it wasn't being used. It has a great safety feature that requires you to slide the lid back to use it. It is clearly marked where you place cards and discs if you want to shred those. It is actually not very loud. It definitely isn't any louder than others shredders I have used before. I really enjoyed using this machine. My only complaint is that the lid is very heavy. If you are in the market for a shredder I highly recommend it.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I didn't know I could be so excited by a paper shredder until using this shredder! It easily takes over 10 sheets staples and all and shreds it into small pieces. I have never had an issue with it jamming up. The cross shredding ability is also amazing both for privacy and it makes everything so small that the bin doesn't fill quickly. When it does fill I just love how the bin easily pulls out to be emptied with no mess. It was easy to assemble simple to operate and is very quiet. I truly can't say enough wonderful things about this shredder - my husband and I just love it.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We are small business in the construction industry we do not have a lot to shred but things we need to shred we want to be sure are securely destroyed. I was impressed on how well it shreds multiple sheets and how fine the cross-shreds are when its done. It does not leave much to worry about! The capacity was perfect for our use our previous shredder was smaller and less powerful so this was a huge upgrade for us! Unless you plan on shredding a lot you will not fill the bin in one use plenty of room for multiple shreds! I think the product is very user friendly and took no setup straight out of the box. Our office is about 10 people and I did not hear any complaints All in all a great product we will hang on to!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This shredder is the BEST one I have ever owned. As someone who owns a small business I shred a lot of papers weekly. This shredder is perfect for a small business. It has wheels and can easily be moved around. It has a run time of 30 minutes and can shred 20 pages as a time. If you have a lot of shredding to do that is super fast. It shreds everything super tiny almost like confetti. I was actually thinking of making my own confetti to shove in balloons by shredding construction paper. It has a nice big bin to collect the shreds as well. Since it shreds very small it takes a while until you have dump out the bin. It does let you know when the bin is full. Surprisingly it’s pretty silent for a shredder of this size. I was expecting it to be much louder. I love how you can shred without having to worry about staples or paper clips. It even shreds cds and credit cards. My kids tried both just out of curiosity and it shredded them easily. I really like this shredder. If you shred a lot of papers I would recommend this shredder.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am obsessed with this shredder!! It fits directly under my home desk and has multiple points to turn on the power so I know it is safe and my son will not be able to get into it! This is the most secure shredder I have seen! It cuts the paper into tiny tiny pieces and makes me feel at ease knowing it is shredded into more than just strips! It is awesome how many pieces it can shred at one time and it is more than my family would ever need at one time but this shredder makes shredding so much fun! Before getting this product just my husband and I shredded thi bf s but now my entire family brings things to my house to be securely shredded!! I love this product!!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was extremely disappointed in this shredder. Upon putting it together I realized that the casters on the bottom are too small to actually roll it without tipping over since it is top-heavy; so I’d recommend putting it together where you plan to keep it. It was easy to use and the bin size is decent but it kept over heating and would turn off so I’d have to wait to continue the job. The noise level was about the same as other shredders and is loud enough that you’d have to shout to be heard. Overall if I had paid for the shredder I would be returning it. I’ve had other shredders that performed better without overheating or being top-heavy. This might work for the random shred here and there but if you need to shred more than 10 pages at a time back to back for even 5 minutes then this is not the shredder for you.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The feeder is the best part of this shredder. I had no issues with jamming and people don't have to sit and watch its progress. The bin capacity is more than large enough too. The setup was simple I didn't even have to read the instructions or teach everyone in the office how to use it their first time. It can be tucked under a desk easily and is out of the way. Overall it is a simple machine that does its job well and doesn't feel like it is going to break right away what else do you need!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Even though we already had a small 5-sheet capacity paper shredder in our house and even though we DO care about privacy and security with the papers we discard we still didn't typically do a ton of paper shredding mostly because the shredder we had would output shreds with an ENORMOUS amount of air between them. The bin would fill up quickly so we'd dump it into a big trash bag and when we'd try to squeeze down that bag to make room for another load the escaping air would turn the bag into a confetti cannon. This was really annoying and frankly the whole process more of a hassle than it was worth when we discarded anything but the absolute most sensitive of documents. But the Staples 12-Sheet Micro-Cut Personal Shredder changes everything mostly because one very key feature: the shreds it outputs are very small and they come out fairly densely packed almost like the little pellets that the pine-pellet cat litter we use is made of. (A bonus in-home recycling opportunity..?) Although it's worth noting that the shredder unit itself is very heavy this shredder and bin were easy to put together. We didn't actually get the receptacle bin pushed in properly at first so for a few minutes we were confused about why it wouldn't turn on and didn't start up when we tried putting paper into it. But after removing & replacing the bin (easy to do) it worked intuitively and reliably. Some things we particularly liked about this shredder: 1. It's MUCH quieter than one might expect especially for something with such a powerful motor/grinder. 2. The pellets it spits out are tiny and relatively dense so the overall volume of paper AFTER shredding seems to be no greater (perhaps even less??) than the overall volume of paper PRE-shredding which I personally had never seen before. This was a fantastic surprise! 3. It seems capable of handling more than the 12 sheet capacity it is rated for. We tested at least 15 sheets at a time with no problems at all. 4. Even when you do manage to overload the shredder with too much paper or feed it something that's just too thick extraction of the offending paper supply is quite easy because the shredder doesn't hold on to any long entangled strips of paper while the paper passes through the blades like we'd seen with other shredders we've used. The shredder seems designed specifically to cut across the entire sheet first and again every 1/8" or so before it proceeds to devour what it has cut off. Reversing the feed quickly and easily releases any jammed partially shredded paper with no dangerous tugging required. 5. The paper feed opening is too small to stick even small fingers down into which makes it feel a LOT safer. We have a toddler so even though we keep the shredder in our locked home office it is nice to know that if our curious little one did somehow manage to get in there he at least wouldn't be able to hurt himself by putting his hand directly into the shredder. (Obviously the warnings that come with the shredder about how little hands could be pulled in and should be kept away at all times need to be strictly followed and we keep the shredder unplugged when we're not actively using it.) 6. We had to gratuitously feed a lot of extra scrap paper into this shredder before after at least a half hour of nearly non-stop shredding we eventually managed to get it to overheat. It was nice to see that if you just want to finish shredding whatever you're working on when it initially overheats it only takes needs to cool down for a few moments before it is ready to use again at least for a little bit. Two thing that we didn't love: 1. The shredder is a little bit large for a small home office. Not deal-breakingly large but still. (It does hold a LOT of shredded paper though.) 2. On top of the shredder next to the paper feed there are little graphics of a credit card and a CD to suggest that these are safe to feed into the shredder. I'm sure a credit card would go through just fine - we didn't test that - but we were really curious about how it would handle CDs so we did feed it a few cds. And it was frightening honestly. The cds shattered VERY loudly - it sounded like glass breaking - and a few little shards shot out of the top before it was all over. So yeah... it can handle shredding CD but we wouldn't recommend actually doing it - even though the shredded CDs do add a lovely sparkle to the shredded paper in the receptacle. lol
