I bought the product with high hopes. It can be considered sufficient as a standard product. But the freezes and lag on the second screen are very annoying. Also, when I connect a screen via type-c, only 30Hz output works as the second screen.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Thank you for your feedback regarding the HyperDrive Next Dual 4K 7 Port USB-C Hub. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention and would like to clarify its video capabilities.
The hub supports one screen at 4K 60Hz via HDMI and one screen at 4K 30Hz via HDMI. The USB-C ports on the hub do not support video output.
Should you experience any freezing or performance issues, we recommend ensuring that your host device's software is fully up to date. This often resolves any compatibility issues and ensures optimal performance.

Do NOT waste your time or money on this product if you're using a MacBook Air M1 or M2. If you're looking for a multi-monitor setup, you're better off with a hub that uses Displaylink software (like Wavlink) or just opt for an ultrawide monitor to avoid the hassles of software and hub limitations.
I was extremely disappointed, especially for the price. I used this with my 2024 MacBook Air M2 and two 27" 4K UHD LG monitors, and the experience was awful. It significantly downgraded the performance of both monitors with abysmally low refresh rates. The difference between the two refresh rates was distracting—one monitor was choppy at 30Hz, while the other struggled to maintain stability at 60Hz. To make things worse, every time I unlocked my computer, I had to unplug and replug everything just to get it to work again.
The Instant View software causes macOS to think your screen is being recorded, which messes up features like screen sharing during video calls—completely impractical for a work setup. And on top of that, I couldn’t get both monitors to run at the same resolution. The monitor connected to the 30Hz port maxed out at 1080i, while the one on the 60Hz port could go up to 4K, but macOS scaled it so small it was unreadable.
Both of these monitors look incredible when connected directly to my MacBook, on their own, and none of these issues occur. Simply put, this product was a major letdown for anyone looking for a seamless multi-monitor experience on a Mac.
