ONE MAJOR FLAW

In terms of accuracy and data provided, this is an excellent bike computer. It's also easy to set-up and it's easy to move between the various data screens. There's one major flaw though, at least in my experience.
When I ride, I usually wear sunglasses. I wear prescription glasses with transition lenses (aka, photochromic lenses). As previously mentioned, the 1050 has one major flaw though: In some light conditions, the screen of the 1050 is almost impossible to read. This is especially the case when riding into the sun, i.e., when the sunlight is coming from the front of me. In the shade or in darker conditions, the screen is more legible and when riding in the dark, it is much better than any other computers I've had. Still, if you ride mainly in the daylight hours and you wear sunglasses when riding, I cannot recommend this computer to you.
I received the 1050 for a birthday gift. I can say I love it better than the 1040 that I had. I do ultra riding so the longer battery life is a plus. The navigation screen is so much easier to few when riding at night. It also very easy to set up and finding something on the device is so much easier. I have to admit, I love the bell (lol) Over all I give it a high rating.
Just upgrade to the new Garmin bike gps 1050 and love it. Simple to use, clearer and brighter screen, simple prompts and great battery life. Hopefully get 10 years out of this one too. Surprised the screen (or useable screen) was not a bit bigger but zoom in and out is much quicker now, so not a big issue.
Absolutely love the new Garmin 1050! The large screen and easy-to-read text make it super user-friendly, even in bright light. Battery life is solid—even without battery saver mode, it lasts a long time. The digital bell is hands-down my favorite feature—makes me feel like a kid again every time I use it! Another big plus is how well it connects with Garmin Connect—you get daily training suggestions sent right to the device. You can even pair it with your Garmin watch for a fully connected training experience. If you’re thinking about upgrading, stop thinking and go for it. You won’t regret it!
- The screen and battery life are amazing! - The unit is very responsive. (minus in the navigation map)
Cons/ Concerns:
- You don't see that the battery calls for 100% when charging, mine shows a maximum of 99%. - Some voice commands sound distorted or like the speaker is damaged, and this is not at 100% volume. - My device will not continue to download the topo map in sleep mode, as the unit claims to be able to do. So I had to leave the device for 5 hours ON to download the file. - Navigation Map is slow and lags, even with most map features turned off.
Purchased this last month while on vacation, after forgetting my 1040 at home. What a step up in speed and ease of use. This device provides fast, accurate data and is highly responsive to use. Zero lag and integrates seamlessly with the collection of devices I already have. Wonderful upgrade!
The 2nd time out, my mount broke (aftermarket) and rolled down the street, falling off at 14mph. The case and screen protector stopped the scratches and the computer still worked fine afterwards. I have since replaced the mount. Computer is "Durable".
great unit I have the radar also , when i send the unit a set bike route i love the turn by turn instructions and with the radar option i get warnings long before i see a car behind me . love that i can program my screens to what i want to see
