Don't wait to upgrade

I upgraded from a several-year-old 1030, and boy did I wait too long. The battery life is amazing, especially in the cold (even without solar). The unit is far more responsive. The data screens and display are way better. All-around, it was money well spent to move on from the old device, especially for longer rides in poor / cold conditions.

Great battery. Issues with accessories

I love the abttery life. Love the screens and eas of use.
Cons:
Doesnt work with my Varia vision and according to requestS, it doesn't appear it ever will. Severely degrades the value IMO.
For some reason, I cannot get it to recognize my older radar units.

Simply the best yet. Logs on devices, automatically turns on radar. LOVE when I ride that I can see the traffic approaching on the screen. . Changed my tactics to ride out into the rode, then as the radar shows an approaching vehicle ride hard right to avoid getting hit. LEAGUES better than any Garmin device so far!

lack of gear combo

why cant i get a 54-15 Gear Ratio for example..it only has 53 chain ring setting or lower..co'mon garmin, its the future, not everyone still rides 53's..smh

1040 Great! Solar???

I bought my 2nd 1040. The first was standard; the 2nd solar. I am very pleased with the functionality and performance of the 1040; that is why I bought a 2nd 1040. Thought I'd go for the solar version. The performance of the solar charging is somewhat disappointing. The charging gain, even in full sun, is much less than I anticipated.
