Great upgrade from previous loved Garmin units

Garmin GPS units are incredibly intuitive. Moving up to the 1040S created an assumption that life was about to get more complicated. Not at all! Love this GPS
I upgraded from the Garmin 1030 which was a reliable unit. The 1st thing I noticed was the clarity of the screen and the improved graphics. My aging eyes love it. I've only used my 1040 solar on two rides currently. Looking forward to using all it features.
I was reluctant to Bunyan 1040 because of the size, but went for it. The bigger screen is actually the best feature. So much easier to see with just a glance. I also really like the workout function.
Just upgraded my 1030 and am very happy with the new features and speed of the processor. The ability to customize these units is astonishing. Linked to varia radar, power meters, headlights, and heart rate monitors, there is nothing you can’t monitor or do. Training goals are easy to understand and reach. Especially when linked to other Garmin products like a fitness watch or in my case a Descent. Amazing!
Have been using the Garmin Edge 1040 Solar for a couple of months now. Love the larger size for following routes and ease of reading. Very customizable data views. Does take a bit to figure out how to move around and get to the info you want, but once you figure it out it is easy. Cant wait to use the Climb Pro to preview upcoming climbs (how long, gradient of different sections etc)
The bike computer seems terrific with a bazillion features and capabilities. Figuring out how to use them is difficult. The manual is just a checklist of screen menus. Some documentation or training videos showing how to use the device for typical use cases would go a long way tp helping customers get the most put of their purchase.
