You'll be happy despite the price

You just don't want to spend the $ on a cycling. These things are over priced, right? Just buy a Cateye or use your all purpose phone. I tried so hard to use a cheap alternative but just hit one obstacle after another or was just unsatisfied with the experience.
Cateye does not integrate with Rouvy so left a bit of a hole in the single pane of glass to see all my ride data and of course no map/navigation for those city road weaves or endurance rides where you have no idea where you are going. So, let's pair that up with a phone and RideWithGPS. Nope, doesn't really work well for me and always wanting to bump the subscription to paid, screen timeout, battery drain, or data screens that just won't customize how you want them.
This little device is priced above where I think it should be, but it really gives the riding experience with the data tracking I wanted so I just had to suck it up, Karen. The navigation is top notch as expected. I did run into a one-time only misdirection, but it hasn't re-occurred. I love having a free-ride map, but also turn-by-turn when I want to ride a planned route and plenty-o-notice of up coming waypoint. Integration with Rouvy / Strava is great, even if a bit finicky to get going the first time. Creating ride profiles and customizing data screens with what YOU want to see is also top notch.
Screen visibility in designed for direct sun. It's better than a phone screen. You don't need the resolution of your phone to see useful metrics. The device doesn't overheat and shutdown on those hot days. The charge lasts for days or weeks depending on use. Everything is at your finger tips. The devices pairs with HR, Cadence, and power sensors flawlessly.
A dedicated cycling device wins hands down over a phone app, IMO. If on a budget, figure out your use case, what you can't live without, and try using your phone to see if that works for you. It didn't for me and I bought into the marketing that I can't live without it. Garmin will NOT leverage health data (Sleep, etc) from you incompatible Apple/Android ecosystem, but it's not a deal breaker. I use my Pixel and Fitbit pulls the workouts from Strava for that big picture. If you have Garmin watch, your experience will be better than mine and your wallet will be lighter.
I would recommend this to a friend!
