It's all about the hoop (and jump stitches) for me

This is a great embroidery machine! It doesn't have any sewing capabilities but that's okay because it's easy to pair with a sewing machine. The two things that put it over the top for me are the large hoop size (6x10)- it's much bigger than the standard 5x7 hoop that typically comes with this level of embroidery machine. And it cuts jump stitches! Jump stitches are those long trails of thread that travel from one side of the design to the other and have to be manually trimmed by the user. With this machine, you don’t have to trim threads and this is a great time saver. Honestly, it just makes stitching from start to finish so much faster, easier and cleaner. Brother has compensated me for leaving this review, but I have provided my honest opinion about this machine and its features.

Compact but packed with features!

The NQ1700E is a small but mighty embroidery machine. It's packed with beautiful modern embroidery designs that are ready to use out of the box and tons of editing features to create your own design layouts. As someone who also owns Brother's top of the line machines I can confidently say that there are not many high end features that I miss when using the 1700. My favorite high-end features include the advanced needle threading system (threads the needle with the push of a lever), the color sort function (groups like-colors together to streamline stitchouts), jump thread cutting, and wireless connection. I love sending my designs wirelessly from my computer straight to my machine! The compact frame is also a great perk. I live in an apartment and have limited studio space. The 1700 stores away easily when I'm not using it. Although I was compensated for this review, my opinions are my own and I hope this helps you find a great embroidery machine.

Try to not fall in love

I was beyond myself when I got this machine for Christmas. However my heartbreak in just two weeks has me speechless. I didnt have it out of the box a day when the files I moved started to have this error. I messaged sellers and complained and they all desperately tried to help me until I found others with the same issue on youtube. Come to find out several people are having the same issue and it wasnt any fault of creators. Within a week the machine started to tell me every file needed a larger embroidery frame and the only way to bypass this was to add a period in the file and just not stitch it. The computer issue breaks my heart because I am in love with every inch of this machine. Please Please fix this software issue!!!! I would love considering buying another once the bugs are worked out.

limited to preset colors

it took 16 different colors and turn it into 9 -- I spent days digitizing a dog image only to have the colors changed and grouped. Support states you are limited to the very small selection of colors on the software and you can not turn off the color grouping

Excited to get a bigger embroidery machine

NQ1700e has many features and somewhat easy for a novice user. Automatic needle threader takes practice. Thread cutter could be better. Presets are mainly fonts and not much decoration. Other than that with some practice it will be a nice addition to my other brother machines.

The wireless capability of this machine makes it way above its competitors. I have been using Brother embroidery/ sewing machine combos since the mid 1990s. Sadly my ULT2001 finally wore out - after many millions of stitches - I began looking for a stand alone machine to replace it - while this machine doesn't have all the bells and whistles of my Quattro - it has plenty of high end features. It is very user friendly and a joy to use.
