The machine is quite loud and sounds like it might be having issues. I realize this is a low end machine (I also own a 5100 and a Luminaire) but the machine sounds like the bobbin might be loose. The stitching is good, no problems there.

Sews like a dream! I upgraded from an older machine (memory card and VHS tape). No thread breaks, smooth running, and I love the larger 6 x 10 inch hoop.
This is a great machine if you want a larger than 4x4 hoop for a reasonable price. I love my 5x7 hoop and have used it the most; I have not yet used the 6x10, waiting for the right project. I did purchase a 4x4 hoop to fit this machine because I still use quite a few of these designs. I'm very happy with this machine and don't think I'll need anything bigger or fancier any time soon.
We purchased this machine for our community sewing room in the over 55 resort where I live. Since I have had many years of machine embroidery experience and training I was designated as teacher and overseer. This machine is totally amazing. I am so impressed with what it can do. It has up to a 6x10 inch hoop which is ample for the projects we are doing. We also use the 5x7 and 4x4 hoops. So far this season we have made felt coasters using the shapes and designs built in to the machine, applique on a dish towel, free-standing lace , embroidered cardstock greeting cards and quilted mug rugs with an added embroidery design. Most of the users have never tried an embroidery machine and are wowed with what they can do on it. I have had several Brother embroidery machines over the past 27 years (now have a Brother Dream Machine) and recommended that we buy Brother because they are so user-friendly. If you are thinking about machine embroidery this is a wonderful machine (at a very reasonable price) to add to your sewing room.
I have had the Innov-is NQ1700E for approximately three months and thus far it is performing beautifully. I am still learning it features, but I have produced a number of beautifully embroidered projects and am currently working on embroidering the inside bottom of 10 rope baskets which when done will be Easter Baskets for my great grandchildren. The NQ1700E is easy to use, very user friendly, and the needle threader performs flawlessly which is a god send for someone with limited vision like I have. This machine was a logical step up from my Brother PE 770 which performed flawlessly for over eight years and has been passed on to my DIL.
