I don't like the screen in direct sun

I bought the 1050 because I wanted the speaker so that I could hear the varia radar sounds. I moved from a 1030 plus which I loved. The new screen is a real downer for me as it's washed out in bright sun so that I can barely see it. The 1030 plus had a dimmer screen but it was easy to see in direct sun. I think the new GPS functionality is great and the speaker is a must but the screen eats so much power and is difficult to see so that I will most likely upgrade and shelve this unit if Garmin changes the screen technology.

I love the new 1050. It has a much better screen than my solar 1040. This is a must have.

I bought this a couple of weeks ago and I am so glad. I replaced my 1030 plus.

Have been using for roughly a month. Screen is bright, UI is great and easy to use, OS is snappy. Love all of the climbing features. Battery life more than sufficient for my use. Very happy with purchase.

I've had the 1050 for about a week so far. Very nice. Very easy to read in bright sunlight. I like that it uploads to Garmin Connect almost immediately after I finish a ride, unlike my 1030.
I've seen it reboot during a ride once so far. When it came back up it was in pause mode so I lost some miles. Hopefully a firmware update will fix that.
I feel like it's a bit "chatty" with the notification. When there's a lot of traffic the Varia taillight causes a lot of sound notifications.
I wish it had wireless charging instead of a cable. At least it's USB-C.
