Handles easily and is lightweight.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased this shave because my old Norelco Triple Header finally died. Compared to that shaver this is a huge disappointment. It cuts slow and doesn't feel like it has any power. You can't adjust the depth so if you don't shave daily it really struggles. I rarely use it now, my straight razor is faster and does a better job.

Hi,
Thank you for taking the time to write a review. There are some troubleshooting tips that may help you and we'd like to share them with you.
1. It is possible that your shaver does not turn on or move because it is dirty. There can be hair or dirt particles stuck inside it, causing the shaving heads to be blocked.
To fix this problem, properly clean your shaver. If possible, remove the shaving head and clean your shaver from the inside as well. For detailed cleaning instructions, refer to your user manual.
In some shavers, a cleaning reminder symbol will blink to let you know that the shaver needs to be cleaned.
2.Your Philips Shaver is not assembled correctly Another reason why your shaver might not be working is that it is not assembled correctly. To find out proper instructions on how to reassemble your shaver, refer to your user manual.
3. The travel lock on your Philips Shaver is activated Some Philips Shavers have a 'travel lock' function. If this is activated, the shaver does not turn on. Depending on the shaver model you have, you may see a 'lock' symbol blinking on your shaver to let you know that the travel lock is activated.
To deactivate the travel lock, press the on/off button of your shaver for three to five seconds. Now try turning the shaver on again.

Very underpowered!

I have been a fan of Philips Norelco electric shavers since I started shaving as a teenager. I’ve always loved my Norelcos until I bought the 3800 and was very disappointed with its performance. This shaver is way underpowered, but I don’t know if it’s a motor or battery problem. I thought when I first used this shaver that it just needed a battery charge but soon realized I would have to take twice as long to shave now since you have to shave slower and go over areas more than once. I always liked the 3000 series shavers because the replacement blades were affordable compared to the higher priced models. Maybe this is Norelco’s way of phasing out these once great shavers?

Hi,
Thanks for writing a review regarding the Philips Norelco Shaver 3800. We are sorry to hear that you are not satisfied with the results which it provides, hopefully we can help improve your experience! When you shave with your Philips Shaver, you will achieve optimal results if you make slow circular movements with the shaver over the face. Only apply a gentle pressure which makes your facial hair stand upright and makes it easier for the shaver blades to catch and cut them. Could you also check that the shaver is completely free of hair or debris, as this will effect the performance. To fix this problem, properly clean your shaver, and if possible, remove the shaving heads and clean your shaver from the inside as well. Here is a useful video explaining how you can do this : https://youtu.be/mRwDyeOR2tI
We hope these suggestions will improve your experience with your shaver. If you have any further questions, please feel free to get in touch via social media. We’re available 24/7 on Facebook (facebook.com/philips) and Twitter (@philipscare). Alternatively, you can reach out to us via the contact page on our website. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have always bought Philips shavers but this one does not cut well. I have to shave a lot longer to get the job done and it takes longer to charge.

Hi,
Thank you for taking the time to write a review. It is possible that the performance of your shaver has declined because it is dirty. There can be hair or dirt particles stuck inside it, causing the shaving heads to don’t function correctly. To fix this problem, properly clean your shaver. If possible, remove the shaving heads and clean your shaver from the inside as well.
Another reason why your shaver might not be working properly is that it is not assembled correctly. For full instructions on how to reassemble your shaver, refer to your user manual.
Furthermore, when you shave with your Philips Shaver, you will achieve optimal results if you make slow circular movements with the shaver over the face.
If you are a new user of the Philips Shaver, keep in mind that your skin needs to adapt to the electric razor. This means that your skin may feel slightly irritated in the beginning. Allow yourself an adjustment period of two to three weeks with your new Philips Shaver.

Hi,
Thank you for taking the time to write a review. It may take some time to get used to your new shaver in order to get the best results. When you shave with your Philips Shaver, you will achieve optimal results if you make slow circular movements with the shaver over the face. If you are a new user of the Philips Shaver, keep in mind that your skin needs to adapt to the electric razor. This means that your skin may feel slightly irritated in the beginning. Allow yourself an adjustment period of two to three weeks with your new Philips Shaver. You can also use a gentle moisturizer or aftershave lotion to minimize skin irritation after shaving.
Shaving long hair can be uncomfortable and may lead to skin irritation. If you have not shaved for a couple of days and have a heavy beard, it is a good idea to trim your beard before you start shaving. This technique also helps in reducing shaving time.
While shaving, it is important to be gentle, especially if you have sensitive skin prone to irritation. Do not press the shaver too hard against your skin. Only apply a gentle pressure which makes your facial hair stand upright and makes it easier for the shaver blades to catch and cut them.
Gentle pressure also reduces friction between the shaver and your skin, resulting in a more comfortable experience. The latest models of S9000 will help you to apply the right amount of pressure thanks to its pressure guard feature.

I was getting tired of buying blades for my razor and i thought that maybe an electric razor would be the solution,,,BOY was i wrong. i brought it home charged it up and when i went to use it, it sounded like it had a weak battery and running slow, i did use it the first time and it seemed to be ok but i broke out from something and i reboxed it i gave it about a month and i tried it again and it was still fully charged and i didn't seem to do as good as the first time i had to go slow....my stick razor get a closer shave but i just repacked it up and boxed it away i will try it again but it just needs to be re adjusted for cutting speed as it feels like it is burning my skin because i have to go so slow

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Doesn't pull my facial hair and let me tell you… that hurts so so so bad!!! Close shave and easy to use with the display showing if it needs a recharge! Also, it has the pop-up trimmer, which is a plus.
