My old Garmin (Edge 500) gave up the ghost after over 10 years of use. I have the non-touch screen 540. I don't think the buttons work as well as the old 500, but not a big deal. The only thing I don't like is changing the screen displays is not intuitive and has taken a while to figure out. I think Garmin could work on the UX some and it would be a perfect computer. So...that being said, it works great, connects to my power meter and HR monitor everytime and uploads to Garmin Connect everytime. No complaints and I like the newer screens re: power and HR.
I needed a replacement computer and this happened to be on sale. It is by far the best unit I have ever had. There is so much information and technology built into this bicycle computer. It is outstanding.
I've used this for a couple of rides now and am very impressed with it. I got the 540 because I've had trouble with touch screens in the rain, the buttons work just fine. I like that I can read the screen with my sunglasses on, with no problems. The screen shows10 metrics that I like to track while riding. I found the Climb meter helpful on long climbs. The map Is easy to follow and everything works as it should. It's seems to work perfect Without a flaw. A good device for somebody that wants a bike computer.
The new 540 updated to my personal screens and laps distance. Nice screen and added features on home screen. Like the 530, the 540 loses connection to speed and cadence sensor for a few seconds about every third ride, but very short in duration. Fit my bracket of 530 exactly and button operation was the same and simple.
Not user friendly. Difficult to set up. Can't go to second page without restarting route, A lot of times, I have to reconnect my cadence sensor. I liked the 530 much better.
had been using an Edge 520 for the last seven years.Could barely get 3 rides beforw the battery needed to be recharged but no real complaints. Bought the 540 two weeks ago and all I can say is WOW! Battery life is out of this world with four paired sensors. Love Climb Pro. Haven't figured out all the features yet but what an upgrade.
I bought this to replace a Garmin 200 or something that I had years ago that got stolen with a bike. Couldn’t be happier, good price point and it does all sorts of cool stuff color routing and the battery last forever! Pumped!
