I planted my beans in a raised bed filled only with this soil. Early a few days later, early morning sun glinted off......GLASS! Also, bits of plastic.
Been using your soils for years, and this is a first....I Think! YUK

Full of junk

Bought some of this to supplement, peat moss, compost, sand, and lamb manure for my raised garden bed. When I was mixing the soil, I was surprised to find that it has little pieces of aluminum cans, plastic components to something, plastic caps for Christmas lights, and little bits of plastic bags that all seemed to be processed through a chipper and dumped as a filler for their “compost” mix. Every day, even after rough sifting, I find bits of trash buried in my vegetable garden.
Cons: Didn't work as expected

No description of use

I bought this for my vegetable and herb gardens. I also planned to use this in my large planters. Nowhere on the front on the bag did it say not to use for containers. After I was all done I noticed in very small print on the back “not to be used in containers.” So o then scoured the front again and at the very bottom left (which is actually the bottom) in tiny print it says “for in ground use.” Now what am I supposed to do? I’m pretty angry. What will happen to my herbs? Seriously what should I do? BUY some other kind of soil and risk transplanting shock? Is this a ploy to get people to buy more dirt? I spent a lot of money on these herbs. We bought an extra 1.5 cubic ft so we could use the leftover from our vegetable and herb gardens. Are my herbs going to die now. Please don’t give me your standard response. I need to know what to do. Please recheck your labeling
Cons: Problem with label

We are sorry to hear of the difficulties you encountered with Miracle-Gro Garden Soil for Vegetables and Herbs. You can remove half of the garden soil from the containers and replace it with either sphagnum peat moss or potting mix in at least a 1:1 ratio. If you are willing, please contact us at http://tinyurl.com/noc5mcg so that we can rectify this for you.

Terrible - full of trash - plastic, wire, glass

I bought about 15-20 cu ft of Miracle-Gro soil - both this brand & a couple of other Miracle-Go brands - to add to my raised garden beds & grow pots. I was shocked and appalled by the amount of debris I found in the soil: what looked like old wooden building materials, plastic covered cable/wire, plastics, bits of glass, etc. Initially, I saw a few pieces and thought - okay - we have a little contamination here, not great - but over the weeks more and more debris seems to either filter to the surface / show up in our garden beds. One of my kids could cut a finger on all the glass. My plants aren't doing so great this year and I'm really starting to wonder if it's the horrible soil. I would NOT recommend this product. I read a few similar reviews and though - well, maybe people were over-reacting or a few people got a bad batch - well, they weren't. Very disappointed. I certainly expect better from this brand.

Another reviewer finding pieces of metal and other not-soil in the bags, and way more rocks than seems right....disappointing. Had so spend time 'editing' the bags of dirt...
Cons: Difficult to use

Trash inside

I bought 4 bags. All of them had glass, large pieces of plastic, and plastic bags mixed in. I understand that compost can be made with wood, paper, etc. but I don't understand why there would be plastic in it. Sorry Miracle grow, I used to like your products but I won't be spending any more money on a bag of trash.

I purchased this soil as I have always had the best results from the potting soil. I was truly disappointed with this product. There were lots of pieces of plastic bags, what appears to be shoe leather, rock, and pieces of wood. For the cost of this soil, I expected a much higher quality.
