We have shopped the discount stores the other office supply store and also the price clubs and no one can beat Staples case paper price...it's even better with their rewards coupons and rebates! Quality-wise its also the best. 92 Bright 20lb paper that is easily readable no flaws in the paper and no shedding. What more can you ask for?? We consistently buy this case paper as it is consistently a good buy for quality and price. Highly Recommended!
The paper itself is very fine and with frequent rebates the cost is quite reasonable compared to other name brands. My comments are directed at the packaging of the reams and the weight of the box. First it would be nice to know if the ream wrappers were themselves recyclable. The wrappers tend to have a slick feel on the inside which make me suspicious that they are not recyclable as they contain a thin wax coating (similar to fruit juice cartoons). However even if true that they are coated with wax (probably to eliminate moisture in shipping and storage which might cause the paper to stick together when put into a copy machine) they add probably only a minimal amount of wax in proportion to the overall amount of recyclable paper of a typical office. And it may be that some municipalities have the ability to remove the wax from the waste stream. But my view is why add to the level of non-recyclable material which may degrade the quality of the finished product. For example if you leave the packaging tape on a cardboard box it can still be clearly recycled but why not rip off the tape while breaking down the box (if practical in terms of effort and time expended) leading to a "cleaner" raw material. The other consideration is the weight of the box with 10 reams. While I can carry it with minimal difficulty picking it up by the packing plastic bands does tend to cut into one's hands. Of course I've now seen 8 ream cartons but they cost more per ream then the larger box (economies of scale undoubtedly). Perhaps the plastic banding can be eliminated if the lid was to fix more snugly.
