A very nice and sturdy office chair for those who need lumbar support. The mechanisms work very well and the material is sturdy.

great chair

The chair can be adjusted to fit most people easily . Very comfortable. The only minor problem was with the directions. They did not include the fact that the lumbar back on the chair was adjustable up and down. It didn't take long to figure this out though. On the whole it is a very nice chair. .

Chair won't adjust to fit me
on December 23, 2014

I bought this chair because I was experiencing back pain from my previous chair. I chose the Carder chair from Staples because it had several different ways to adjust the chair to fit the user. The maximum height for the seat is under 20". This doesn't work for me. My feet do sit on the floor but I find myself hunching my shoulders up to work at my standard 29" high desk. I need a seat that will adjust to more than 20" off the floor. I use chairs at school that adjust to 22" off the floor and I find I have no back pain and my feet are comfortable resting on the wheel base. The seat tilt works acceptably. Though the back angle adjustment does allow the user to make some modifications it doesn't even come close to providing me lumbar support. In fact most of the time my back doesn't even touch the back of the chair. To get any lumbar support from this chair (when adjusted with the back angled the furthest forward) I have to lean back. This means I'm not getting any work done. It's impossible to type and have contact with the seat back. The knurled nob at the back of the lumbar support doesn't work at all. Turning it does nothing to adjust the lumbar support. I guess it's just for decoration or to give the impression to a would-be buyer that the thing is adjustable. It's not. The chair does roll smoothly across my laminate floors. The seat is OK but I wouldn't recommend it for sitting in all day to work in. I can feel the seat plate beneath the cushion. The arms are adjustable but sit too high to allow me to roll the chair close to the desk. Even with the arms adjusted to their lowest setting the chair won't fit under my 29" desk. The desk top is only 1.25" thick. I'm skipping the arms on my next chair. I had it assembled in the store so there may have been an assembly issue that I'm not aware of. When I arrived to pick it up they had already tossed all of the paperwork that came with it and they told me there was extra hardware they hadn't used in the assembly. Overall this chair is a huge disappointment. It looks OK and the fact that there are many ways to adjust it kept me from realizing that the range of adjustments possible wouldn't fit someone my size. (I'm 5'5".) I expect that most office chairs are still made to fit large guys. This chair is causing me even more back pain than my prior chair. It's now too late to return it so I'm shopping for a truly adjustable chair. Try before you buy - be sure to sit in an office chair at a desk to get a feel for how the ergonomics of a particular chair will fit you when working.

Perfect office chair

This chair is perfect for my office - very comfortable. I was most happy that the arms do not interfere with the desk. I had it assembled in the store and was not happy with those results at all. The chair needs lots of adjusting and tightening... but the chair itself is great! Would definitely recommend.

Comfortable Choice!

This chair has all the essential features I wanted - seat tilt back tilt lumbar support height adjustable armrests as well as the standard chair height adjust feature. The high mesh back should be comfortable in all conditions. The clincher to get this chair when I did was the $100.00 price reduction!
