Staples Paper-Excellent for standard use
on February 7, 2013

I use Staples generic paper for reading copies of ten novels I have written many of which Staples also has copied in four sets and spiral bound. After edit I format per publishing requirements on the web with a backup system and separate CD disk. All are copyrighted and two are now being considered for publishing. I will not self-publish.

Shocked for the first time

I was using STAPLES products for a long time. Had some problems with delivery (not STAPLES fault) but never with products. That is untill now. I bought STAPLES brand 20lb copy paper. I began noticing that my almost brand new printer was taking 2-3 pages of paper and was misplacing images between two pages! I cleaned and checked the printer - all is fine. Could not understand what was going on. Bought HAMMERMILL paper from STAPLES. When taking boxes to the office I thought they are heavier than usual. So I took one rim of paper each - STAPLES and HAMMERMILL. Put on scale. STAPLES brand weighs 5.0lb HAMMERMILL - 5.5lb. Both are 20lb paper. Was connected to sales woman from manufacturer. Of coarse she said that "We never had any complaints" and paper is fine. That is printer's fault since it is set up for an upper tolerance in paper thickness. Meanwhile I have 2 new rims of STAPLES' paper with almost full third one which will have to go to garbeach. HAMMERMILL paper works just fine! I recommend (and will have to come-up with something myself) to weigh paper before buying or receiving. At 5.5lb/rim you should have about 51.0 lb per box including packing. If it is around 50.0 lb - reject it and send it back! And if you get the light paper - complain so the "largest paper manufacturer" will have a record of it's failures!
