I liked the idea that I could purchase an assortment of several colors without having to buy several reams of different colors which I would probably never use.

I use the colored copy paper as section dividers in documents. Since I didn't need a large quantity of sheets having a pack of 5 assorted colors allows me to have a variety of colors at my disposal for minimal cost as opposed to purchasing 5 separate individual packs of 400 sheets.
