Puzzling Damage to Wrappings on All Three Reams

Paper OK and undamaged but unsightly tearing tearing on all sides of wrapping makes it impossible to keep unused reams on desk. Was that why cost was slightly reduced? Hope not. Hid reams in cupboard. No damage on tops or bottoms indicates attack (by small animals? small children?) was while stacked. Should have been noticed by whoever packed it for shipping unless that was done by robots. Never experienced anything like this previously.
