Beautiful, heavy wood board

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The quality of the Boos cutting board is outstanding! It’s a thick, sturdy piece of beautiful wood. That being said, it is quite heavy and takes up a lot of space, so you’ll want to make sure you have a large counter space to store it permanently so you don’t have to bring it out each time you use it, like your typical plastic cutting board. I love the company’s reputation and that their products are still made in America.
Purchasing a genuine wood cutting board like this does take a bit of maintenance, as opposed to the plastic boards. It needs to be seasoned with mineral oil & sanitized with vinegar. I do worry a little about getting it “too” wet when washing, and ending up with mold in the wood. But that’s the sacrifice we make for choosing wood over plastic. I typically spray an alcohol based cleaner on my plastic cutting boards, but fear that would dry out this wood, so I won’t chance it! I recommend buying the cleaning kit made by the same company to be sure it stays in perfect condition. I expect this cutting board to last for many years!

Beautiful Cutting Board

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a cutting board for someone that is very serious about cooking. My husband absolutely loves having the larger space to work. We can fit so many items and even large items like a whole watermelon. Board is very thick, heavy and sturdy. This is not something you hide away in the cupboard because it is too big. It is meant to be on display. I do recommend buying their mystery oil because it needs to be cared for monthly. Using the kit to care for board is simple and fast. Very easy to clean up after use. Hand grips on sides are nice, but we probably won’t move much. We eat a lot of fruits and vegetables and this will make it much easier to prepare them while containing the mess in an easy to clean spot. It will also be a nice place to display items during entertaining and family gatherings. It is a beautiful addition to our kitchen.

Heavy duty!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I didn't pay attention to the size of this thing when I got it. It is very large! It is completely solid! We can put it on our island and both chop veggies at the same time without getting in each other's way. It's also great for cutting large items, like ribs!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love this cutting block, but you must be willing to take care of the product with consistent cleaning and polishing. It's absolutely imperative that you protect and replenish this block on a somewhat regular basis (monthly) or you'll likely be disappointed. I specifically use the Boos oil and cream maintenance kit, I've heard others using other solutions, but I don't recommend it. With that being said I absolutely love this cutting board. I make an array of items and frequently will experiment in the kitchen. Plenty of space to navigate/stage and not have to consistently rinse mid prep. Very stylish and matches my kitchen quite well. Very high quality wood and product if you are disciplined enough to maintain it.

beautiful solid piece of wood

I'm in the middle of prepping it for future use with the oil and conditioner which is also another great addition since it comes with a sponge for application. I am sure with good care this is a piece that will last a long time.

Really not sure why I didn’t get this earlier, initially was very skeptic about the maintenance involved but if that is what putting you off you should really get one, regular oiling and you are all set. This is really chef grade; a great daily use and regular maintenance and you are all set for long.

I can do all of my prep work on it whether I am baking or getting ready to serve meat off the grill. Keep in mind, it is a big heavy block of wood so storage could be difficult if you don't have cabinet space. If storage is a problem we leave ours out on the counter because of how pretty it is.

I love that it has enough surface area to prepare each item separately, comfortably (and doesn't seem to have any limitations as to what can be cut on it). The other benefit to its size and weight is that it doesn't shift when in use. Then again, its heft makes it difficult to maneuver. Thankfully, it is equipped with handholds on either side to ease the process. Additionally, it is reversible which adds to its durability. To its credit, the board's beauty is in its simplicity. Who knew a cutting board could be a statement piece?! I proudly display it on my counter as a conversation starter.
The only drawback to the product is the effort it takes to keep it in working order. I have the oil and cream to preserve the board's beauty, but with application every 3-4 weeks, it is more work intensive than any other cutting board I've ever owned. I also would have appreciated a little more guidance concerning how to clean it properly without water as this is my first wood cutting board.
Nonetheless, I love this piece and highly recommend it.
