Nice Machine for the price

I purchased this machine in April to reduce the wear and tear on my pro-finish. It has taken a bit to get use to, BUT I prefer this machine for mask making over my pro-finish. As with any serger at this price, threading can be a challenge. However, I like it enough that I will be purchasing another one for my business. I like the performance of the is machine. It is fast, efficient, and sews a really nice seam.

Disappointing

I received this as a christmas gift from my husband and we are both really disappointed. Almost impossible to get the thread tension right, and garments made with it look poorly made no matter how many adjustments we make.
This was supposed to be an upgrade after my old faithful machine finally died after 12 years but so far its just been frustrating and a real let down. Definitely not the standard I expect from singer

Easy to work with

I have 3 deferent brands for other Serger Machines that I work with, and this is the only one that can work with heavy cotton fabric. To me works excellent. It is a pity you do not have it in stock, I need one more.

Little Intimidating at First

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is the first time I've used a serger, and the large instruction manual gave me a little stress at first. If you promise not to report me to the mythical "Man Club" I'll let you know that I actually read the manual prior to using the machine (only 51 pages of instructions per included language, so not that much to read), and most of it is devoted to threading the machine. After reading that I learned that the machine comes pre-loaded with color-coded threads so that the user can tie on the thread of the spools and threading is easy! How thoughtful of Singer. The machine also comes with a threading diagram under the looper cover. I'll mostly use this machine to repair jeans or shorts that I'll wear around the house or shop instead of having to throw them out or ruin my good clothes while working on the car. My regular sewing machine could never handle the heavier fabrics like this serger can. If I decide to use it for lighter-weight fabrics, then I might find the machine intimidating as I try to figure out the thread tension settings.

Singer Heavy Duty Serger

It was fairly easy to set up and can accommodate four threads, providing more stitch variety. And the color coded threading system made it much easier to thread than other machines I have used.

Nice serger!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I must say this is my first time trying a Serger sewing machine. That being said I was very intimidated with all the threads and the instruction manual. But once I decided to put my anxiety aside, I read through the manual which in my language only had 50 pages. I found it very informative and easy to understand. It came pre threaded so to speak meaning you can tie into the thread and keep on sewing. The threading system is also color coded which is very helpful. It has great lighting which is a plus. I also like the free arm that allows for easy repairs on things like cuffs or sleeves. I have not used this machine much but enough to know I will be happy with it. I also do and have used several Singer Sewing Machines brands in the past and really like the quality of their products. If you are thinking about a serger I do recommend giving it a try. I don’t think you will be disappointed.

Great for those interested in sewing.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love my Singer Heavy Duty Serger. It has two to four thread capability and provides a variety of different stitches. Threading is fairly easy as it comes with a color coded diagram right on the machine. The stitch length and width can be adjusted and it has a feature for free arm sewing that makes it easier sewing sleeves, legs, cuffs, etc. It has a built-in cutter that can trim excess. Accessories included are needle set, spreader, small screwdriver, spare lower knife, lint brush, and my 2 favorites which are the tweezers (makes needle eye threading easy) and scrap bag that collects excess trimmings. Overall, this machine is wonderful.
